It’s summer, the sun is shining and the IDLF team are looking forward to their holidays following a busy and positive period for IDLF Fund 3, with strong momentum across both investor activity and new lending.
Over recent months, we continue to provide supportive loans to high-quality, owner-managed businesses across Ireland. These new investments bring the Fund 3 portfolio to a strong and diverse group of borrowers, including the Marine Hotel in Sutton, the Blue Haven Collection in Kinsale and Schull, the Hydro Hotel in Lisdoonvarna, the Killaloe Hotel and Spa, Hotel Doolin Ltd, and Haven Living.
A central part of the IDLF investment strategy is to provide funding to established regional businesses that are deeply rooted in their local communities. Many of the hotels we support are owner-managed businesses with strong local identities. Our funding helps these businesses invest, expand and continue to play an important role in regional employment, tourism and local economic activity.
Hotel Doolin is a strong example of this approach. Located in one of Ireland’s most distinctive tourism destinations, it sits in the heart of Doolin, a village internationally recognised for traditional Irish music and as a gateway to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and the Aran Islands. It is exactly the kind of regional hospitality business IDLF is proud to support: locally rooted, visitor-facing and deeply connected to the cultural and economic life of its community.
At its core, IDLF is also a relationship business. For our investors, we are often much more than a fund manager. We become local guides and trusted advisers as families navigate the process of investing in Ireland, securing Stamp 4 residency and beginning a new chapter here. For our borrowers, we aim to be a long-term funding partner that understands their business, their community and their ambitions for growth.
That relationship-led approach is reflected across Fund 3. Hotel Doolin is a business we have previously supported, and we are pleased to continue that relationship. We are also particularly pleased to have completed a new loan to Haven Living, an impressive Irish company providing homes in the community for adults with intellectual disabilities or long-term care needs. Haven Living provides homes in local communities for small groups of three to four people, with live-in nursing and care support tailored to their needs. The business is led by the former owners of Sunhill Nursing Home, which was previously funded by IDLF and successfully sold two years ago. We are very pleased to support them again as they build this new venture.
Alongside this lending activity, we have now welcomed 43 investors into IDLF Fund 3. Each investor represents an individual family that has chosen to invest in Ireland as part of securing Stamp 4 residency status and building a future here. These families have come from the United States, South Africa and Asia, and we are proud to support them as they begin new chapters in Ireland.
At a time when many parts of the world are experiencing uncertainty, Ireland continues to offer stability, opportunity, natural beauty and a strong sense of community. Through IDLF, we are privileged to work with both the families choosing Ireland as their new home and the Irish business owners creating employment, delivering services and supporting local economies across the country.
