My favourite thing is the diversity I have in my day to day role. No two days are ever the same. It keeps things very interesting.
My biggest achievement has been to build and maintain great working relationships with colleagues across all of our internal teams in various countries.
In the VAT world, the biggest shift towards automation and digitization is happening now and has been dramatically accelerated due to COVID and the drive to reduce fraud and the VAT Gap. This is bringing about the biggest change in the VAT Compliance landscape that I have witnessed in my time with Taxback International.
Change is always a challenge. The growth of our Compliance business and our Compliance team over the last 2 years has probably brought the greatest challenge, but has also proven that anything is possible when you work with a great team of people who are all working towards the same goal. To overcome such a challenge its key that you are engaged with your team and that you listen and learn from the experiences of everyone around you.
I have a love/hate relationship with public speaking and presenting. The thoughts of it, in the run up, and the cringe when you look back but at the same time the Elevate programme has probably been my favourite project to work on. There's great energy and fun in producing such an event and it's nice to meet and talk to so many of our clients outside the typical work setting.
Just to be open to the challenges and to change and you'll be amazed at what can be achieved/ There is only one way to eat an elephant; one bit at a time.
