WeCan and TransferMate Win Silver at the 2026 eir business Chambers Ireland Awards

Tuesday, June 30th, 2026. WeCan, an initiative by CluneTech, and CluneTech subsidiary TransferMate have been recognised with Silver Awards at the 2026 eir business Chambers Ireland Awards.

The eir business Chambers Ireland Awards celebrate excellence, innovation and leadership across Ireland's business community, recognising organisations that are making a meaningful impact across a range of sectors. The awards were presented at a gala ceremony held at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre on Friday, June 26th, 2026.

This year's awards attracted a record number of entries, reflecting the continued strength and innovation of Ireland's business community.

WeCan received the Silver Award for Community Impact / CSR Initiative of the Year in recognition of its innovative approach to combining environmental action with social inclusion. Leveraging Ireland's Deposit Return Scheme, in partnership with SOS Kilkenny, the initiative has created opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities while supporting Ireland's sustainability goals.

Alongside WeCan's success, CluneTech subsidiary TransferMate received the Silver Award in the FinTech Company of the Year category, recognising its continued innovation and leadership in global B2B payments.

L-R: TransferMate's Jefferson Lima, Business Development Manager and James Tuohy, Business Analyst.

Speaking on WeCan's recognition, CluneTech Founder and CEO, Terry Clune said:

"We are absolutely delighted to see WeCan recognised with the Silver Award for Community Impact / CSR Initiative of the Year at the eir business Chambers Ireland Awards. What started as a small idea has grown into something that's making a real difference in our community, and that's something we're incredibly proud of.

I want to sincerely thank our team, our exclusive partners at SOS Kilkenny, and the many businesses who have supported WeCan. This recognition belongs to everyone who has helped make the initiative what it is today. Since its launch, WeCan has not only helped protect the environment but has also empowered adults with intellectual disabilities to gain meaningful employment. I'm excited to see it continue to grow and create even more opportunities for our communities in the years ahead."

Reflecting on TransferMate's award, he said:

"I'm also delighted to see TransferMate recognised with the Silver Award for FinTech Company of the Year. It's a fantastic achievement for the team and a reflection of the work they do every day and their continued innovation, ambition and commitment to delivering for customers around the world. To see both WeCan and TransferMate recognised on the same night makes it an especially proud moment for everyone across CluneTech."

John McCarthy, WeCan Project Lead, added:

"We are absolutely delighted to receive this recognition from Chambers Ireland. At its core, WeCan is about people. It's about creating opportunities, building connections and making a positive difference in the communities where we live and work.

This award reflects the passion and commitment of so many people across CluneTech, along with the schools, charities and community organisations we've had the privilege to work alongside. Every initiative is driven by people who genuinely want to make a difference, and that's what makes WeCan so special. We're incredibly proud of what we've achieved together so far, and this recognition inspires us to keep building on that success.”

The latest recognition builds on a growing list of accolades for WeCan. In 2025, the initiative was named Community Programme of the Year at the Sustainable Business Impact Awards and received the Pakman Award for Best Deposit Return Scheme Initiative in 2024, where it was recognised ahead of leading industry names including Coca-Cola and Lidl.

Working in partnership with the Work4Life Employment Support team at SOS Kilkenny CLG, WeCan continues to create meaningful opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities while demonstrating how businesses can drive both environmental and social impact.

5 Years at CluneTech - Interview with Yoanna Lyubenova

At CluneTech, we have an extensive Milestone Recognition Program that rewards employees that choose to build a long and successful career with us. As part of this programme, we love celebrating and sharing the stories of those reaching major milestones with the company.

This month we caught up with Sprintax's US Tax and Payroll Expert, Yoanna Lyubenova who has been on our team for the last 5 years.

Favourite thing about working in CluneTech

My favorite thing about the company is the team I work with, who supports me, and the freedom we are given to offer ideas and be innovative in what we do.

What has been your biggest achievement or highlight since joining CluneTech?

My biggest achievement is the fact that I started working in the company while I was still a student and managed to continuously learn, improve and take on new responsibilities in my role. As a highlight, I would probably say the fact that I started my journey on becoming an IRS enrolled agent.

What is the biggest change that you have witnessed in your time here?

The biggest change so far has been the growth of our team. When I came, there were only 5 of us, now we’ve expanded, and continue to grow. Over time, we’ve been granted more responsibilities which allow us to learn new stuff and give us an opportunity for carrier development.

What is the greatest challenge that you have faced in your time here and how did you overcome it?

Talking in front of an audience – all introverts will understand. I was super concerned and overwhelmed by the fact that I will be onboarding new clients and making calls with already existing partners. I just decided I’ll continue challenging myself until I felt comfortable doing it. Over time, it indeed started becoming easier and easier to do it daily.

What has been your favourite project to work on?

Our partnership with FIFA on World Cup 2026.

Do you have any advice for someone who is just starting their career in CluneTech?

My advice is – try socializing with as many people as possible. Everyone here has unique knowledge and skills, so you can learn something useful from everyone. Being reliable - consistently meeting commitments builds trust faster than occasional standout achievements. Focus on learning and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

25 Years at CluneTech - Interview with Louise Coleman

At CluneTech, we have an extensive Milestone Recognition Program that rewards employees that choose to build a long and successful career with us. As part of this programme, we love celebrating and sharing the stories of those reaching major milestones with the company.

This month we caught up with CluneTech's Payment Authoriser, Louise Coleman who has been on our team for the last 25 years.

Favourite thing about working in CluneTech
#OneTeam - working in shared services allows you to work with people from each entity. This in turn leads to versatility where no two days are the same!

What has been your biggest achievement or highlight since joining CluneTech?
Reaching 25 years 😊

Who has inspired you the most during your time here?
The commitment and consistency of the leadership team, in particular Terry, who demonstrates exceptional innovation and leadership which has led to the incredible growth of the company. From winning the EY Entrepreneur of the year to the Outstanding Achievement Award at the national Fintech Awards 2025, just reflects the drive and continued ambition to grow and expand the business. There are also many employees in both Ireland and Bulgaria who have been with the group for many years, which is a testament to the culture and leadership that have been developed.

What is the biggest change that you have witnessed in your time here?
Expansion! When I started in Eden Quay, in a small office, there was approx. 20 people working on Taxback or ESS Tax Refunds as it was known back then. To have witnessed and been involved in many aspects of the business over the years, and see it grow to the incredible Group it is today, has been amazing.

Also the move from Dublin to Kilkenny was a pretty big change back in 2003!

What has been the greatest challenge that you have faced in your time here and how did you overcome it?
The move to remote working during Covid – to no longer be in the office environment with daily support of team around you and adapt to working more individually. During this time, lockdown in particular, lead to a sense of guilt for working and not spending time with a 2 year old who was home all day, or a sense of guilt for spending time with my 2 year old and not being at the desk. It took some time to get the balance right but once things settled down, it became the best possible outcome and hard to imagine a full week in the office now!

What has been your favourite project to work on?
I have been involved in Company Secretarial role for the group for a number of years, and have really enjoyed getting more involved in this space. Having had the opportunity to complete a course with Law Society of Ireland recently, it has provided a comprehensive understanding of the company law framework and key corporate governance, which has been great to apply to everyday company secretarial tasks.

Do you have any advice for someone who is just starting their career in CluneTech?
Embrace change – there have been numerous changes over the years and while they may appear challenging at the beginning, from my experience, most change is for the better in the long run.

Their support allows us to continue developing and supporting our young camogie players, and occasions like the Academy Awards are an important opportunity to recognise their progress and encourage them as they work to reach their potential within Kilkenny’s high-performance environment.”

The two awards evenings reflected the strength of the partnership between CluneTech, Kilkenny GAA and Kilkenny Camogie, and a shared commitment to providing young players with a supportive and high-quality development environment. As the academy programmes continue to grow, the focus remains on nurturing talent, building character and ensuring that young athletes across the county are given every opportunity to reach their potential both on and off the pitch.

Building a Stronger Sales Culture at Benamic

Following the recent 25th anniversary celebrations of CluneTech’s Varna office, our Benamic team continued the momentum with a two-day Sales Culture Organisation training held on 28–29 April in Varna, Bulgaria.

Bringing together more than 50 colleagues from across the organisation, the initiative reflects Benamic’s ongoing commitment to strengthening collaboration, enhancing customer experience, and embedding a unified, customer-first mindset across all teams.

The training, delivered by Pavel Panov, PhD, from In Your Hands, centred around a dynamic business simulation designed to mirror real-world organisational challenges. Through highly interactive sessions, participants explored how decision-making, communication, and internal alignment directly influence the customer journey.

Teams from Web Development, Customer Service, Client Success, Sales, and Project Management took part across the two days, with the programme also welcoming international colleagues, including participants from Ireland. This cross-functional and cross-border approach reinforced the importance of shared accountability in delivering consistent value to customers.

A central theme throughout the training was clear: every team plays a role in shaping the customer experience. Whether client-facing or operating behind the scenes, the way teams collaborate internally has a direct and measurable impact on external outcomes.

Through a series of practical exercises and guided reflections, participants were encouraged to challenge existing ways of working, identify areas for improvement, and adopt a more commercially aware and customer-oriented perspective.

As Julian Morrison, CEO of Benamic, shared:

“This was a focused reset on how we approach sales - not just as a function, but as a culture built on trust, clarity and consistently delivering on our commitments.

What stood out was the level of engagement across the team and a clear, shared intent to become a more customer-oriented business. There’s a strong willingness to challenge how we work today and raise the bar on how we deliver value to our customers.”

The training marked an important step in Benamic’s journey towards building a stronger, more aligned organisation - one where sales is not confined to a single function, but embedded in the mindset and actions of every team.

With strong engagement, practical insights, and a clear focus on application, the initiative sets the foundation for continued progress. The next step is clear: to translate these learnings into everyday practice and further elevate the standard of delivery across the business.

5 Years at CluneTech - Interview with Philip Traynor

At CluneTech, we have an extensive Milestone Recognition Program that rewards employees that choose to build along and successful career with us. As part of this programme, we love celebrating and sharing the stories of those reaching major milestones with the company.

This month we caught up with TransferMate's Philip Traynor, Senior Business Development Manager, who has been on our team for the last 5 years.

What is your favorite thing about working in CluneTech / TransferMate

I know it’s a cliché and it’s been said before, but it’s 100% the people. I’ve met some awesome people here. Some have moved on and some are still here, but they most certainly make the role interesting, to say the least. You meet so many different types of characters in sales that it’s bound to make life more intriguing.

Also, the fact that we are very innovative. Some of the new products we’ve introduced over the last few years really help us stand apart from the competition.

What has been your biggest achievement or highlight since joining CluneTech / TransferMate?

I’d say reaching the 5-year mark in Higher Ed is a highlight 😊 But probably being part of the signing of our largest client to date in Education, UBC.

Who or what has inspired you the most during your time here?

I feel a lot of inspiration comes from within yourself, though I’ve also learned a lot from the people around me here. To be truly inspired, I feel you must discover what you want to achieve from a certain goal and then go and get it.

What is the biggest change that you have witnessed in your time here?

The enormity of the company! 😊 From when I started 5 years ago until now – the number of clients we have brought on board, the new products brought to market, and the sheer volume of funds that we have seen growing and growing has been amazing.

What is the greatest challenge that you have faced in your time here and how did you overcome it?

It was probably more of a personal challenge when my mother passed away. I had been working here less than a year when we got the bad news. What made it slightly easier was the fact that my Commercial Director and Team Lead at the time both arrived unexpectedly at the funeral, which in turn made my return to work a lot easier. That is something I will always remember.

What has been your favourite project to work on?

My favourite and biggest has to be UBC – from the team of people working on this on both the TM side and the UBC side, to the learnings I had over that 3-year period, which will always stand me in good stead in the future.

Do you have advice for someone who is just starting their career in CluneTech / TransferMate?

Just enjoy it – learn the product and believe in yourself. Work hard and your efforts will be recognised. It will be noticed and you will get to where you want to go within TransferMate if you follow those simple tips.

Strengthening VAT Expertise: The First Year of Fintua Tax Academy

At CluneTech, continuous learning is at the heart of our culture. In 2025, CluneTech’s subsidiary Fintua launched the Fintua Tax Academy, a comprehensive training programme designed to equip colleagues with deep knowledge of EU VAT, practical skills, and the confidence to tackle complex challenges in their daily work.

The goal of Fintua was to create an internal training series that goes beyond theory. While external courses exist, developing an in-house programme allows the content to be tailored to real-life scenarios and business-specific challenges, ensuring every session is directly relevant, practical, and immediately applicable.

“Our aim was to show that behind the Excel tables and daily routines, there is so much more to understand and appreciate. Participating in this type of training reshapes the way colleagues think about their work, the value they create, and how they collaborate across teams,” explains Péter Árpás, the main driver of the programme.

From April to October 2025, the Academy hosted seven sessions - two in-person and five online, covering the EU VAT system, legal background and EU Court decisions, and practical examples from advisory experience. The series concluded with a final exam in late November, consisting of more than 60 questions. Out of 70 participants from Bulgaria, Ireland, and Hungary, 40 successfully participated in and passed an exam, with 21 achieving results above 80%.

A graduation ceremony in Varna this February marked the successful completion of the exam, with top performers recognized for their exceptional achievement.

Building on the success of the first year, Fintua is already preparing its 2026 programme. The next edition will be even more practical, featuring new lecturers and an open invitation for anyone who wants to participate, regardless of previous involvement.

Beyond its global reach and automated, highly integrated platform offering a full suite of indirect tax solutions, Fintua’s VAT Academy adds one more key advantage: the deep VAT expertise of its long-term professionals, handling complex VAT cases for clients such as Nestlé, Google, IBM, Mondelez, and many others.

The Fintua Tax Academy demonstrates CluneTech’s commitment to investing in our people. Beyond providing essential knowledge, it fosters professional curiosity, strengthens collaboration across teams, and empowers colleagues to step into advanced roles.

At CluneTech, growth is a team effort, and initiatives like the Fintua Tax Academy ensure that every colleague has the tools and confidence to progress their development.

Fintua are currently hiring in various roles across our global teams in Tech and Finance. See their current vacancies at https://fintua.com/careers/.

Everyone is approachable, open to questions, and always willing to help when needed. Beyond the professional environment, I’ve also had the chance to build meaningful connections and friendships that extend outside of work, which makes the experience even more valuable.

What has been your biggest achievement or highlight since joining CluneTech / Sprintax?

‍Having been with CluneTech for five years, my biggest achievement has been my professional growth within the company. I joined shortly after graduating, and through continuous learning and commitment, I was able to demonstrate my potential and take on increasing responsibility. This journey eventually led to the opportunity to step into a Team Lead role, which I see as both a personal milestone and a reflection of the trust and support I’ve received along the way.

What is the biggest change that you have witnessed inyour time here?

‍The biggest change I’ve witnessed is the growth and evolution of the team I’m part of. When I joined, the team consisted of just three people, and today it has grown to twelve. Along with this growth came new dynamics, stronger collaboration, and a more structured way of working together. It’s been interesting to see how the team has evolved while maintaining open communication and a supportive environment.

What is the greatest challenge that you have faced inyour time here and how did you overcome it?

‍One of the greatest challenges I’ve faced has been growing both professionally and personally. From the very beginning, it required stepping outside my comfort zone to communicate with more experienced colleagues, ask questions, and actively learn.

Over time, I needed to take on more responsibility and make decisions on my own, which was initially intimidating. Today, many of the things that once felt challenging are now part of my everyday work.

What has been your favourite project to work on?

I’ve really enjoyed projects where I could both contribute technically and support the team’s growth. Working on challenging front-end tasks while also helping colleagues solve problems, share knowledge, and improve collaboration has been very rewarding. I particularly value opportunities where I can learn new approaches and see how our work positively impacts the product and the team.

Do you have advice for someone who is just starting their career in CluneTech / Sprintax?

My advice would be not to be afraid to reach out to your colleagues and communicate openly in the workflow. Ask questions whenever you have them, seek feedback, and don’t hesitate to share your ideas or suggestions. Make the most of your time, stay curious, and take every opportunity to learn as much as you can from those around you.

Our CSR Programme - CluneTech Cares, is a fantastic representation of what we are - a team of truly caring individuals giving our best to support and add value, not only to our customers, but also to the communities in which we operate. CluneTech Cares is employee-led and has three key pillars: Wellness, Culture & Community, and Sustainability. It has been a busy quarter so make sure to check out some of our latest activities below

April's CSR Spotlight: CluneTech Goes Green

As sustainability continues to be a key pillar of our CSR programme, CluneTech Cares, we were delighted to once again celebrate #CluneTechGoesGreen throughout April, marking World Earth Day by encouraging our people to make a positive impact on both our community and the environment.

This year, we hosted a Clothing Drive at our Kilkenny HQ in aid of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP). Colleagues were invited to donate clean, reusable clothing, helping to reduce textile waste while supporting individuals and families in need within our local community.

The clothing drive took place alongside our April Pre-Pay Day Lunch, making it easy for colleagues to get involved by bringing along a donation while enjoying lunch together.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our team, we collected an amazing 25 bags of clothing, all of which have now been delivered to St. Vincent de Paul. These donations will make a meaningful difference to local people and families while promoting more sustainable habits across CluneTech.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported the initiative. We'd also like to give a special mention to Johnny Caldwell, Gary McCarthy, Jamie Hogan, and our Great Place to Work representatives Kaylyn Burke and Muireann McMahon, who kindly helped transport all of the donations to SVP.

It was fantastic to see so many colleagues getting involved and supporting this year's #CluneTechGoesGreen initiative. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success and for continuing to demonstrate CluneTech's commitment to sustainability and giving back to our communities.

May's CSR Spotlight: World MS Day

The event was organised to raise both funds and awareness for World MS Day, reinforcing CluneTech's commitment to supporting meaningful causes through our CSR programme.

It was fantastic to see colleagues come together, whether playing on the pitch or cheering from the sidelines, to support this important initiative. The enthusiasm, team spirit and generosity shown throughout the event made it a great success.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, supported the event and helped raise awareness for World MS Day. Your involvement continues to demonstrate the values at the heart of CluneTech Cares and the positive impact we can make when we come together for a good cause.

June's CSR Spotlight: Pride Month

This June, CluneTech Cares proudly celebrated Pride Month, recognising and supporting the LGBTQ+ community while promoting inclusion, respect and belonging across our teams.

Throughout the month, colleagues came together to take part in a range of Pride-themed activities across our offices. One of the highlights was our Pride Rowathon Challenge at Kilkenny HQ, where teams competed in a fun and energetic rowing challenge in support of a great cause. It was fantastic to see so many colleagues getting involved, creating an incredible atmosphere filled with team spirit and friendly competition.

Congratulations to James Tuohy and Maeve Mansfield, who achieved the best team score of 4,904 metres during the 10-minute challenge. A special mention also goes to Kevin O'Connell, whose determination and sense of humour earned him a well-deserved prize after completing his row in a pair of jeans!

To round off the celebrations, we hosted an LGBTQ+ webinar, both in person and virtually, giving colleagues across all of our locations the opportunity to come together, listen, learn and celebrate Pride. Meanwhile, our Dublin HQ marked the occasion with a Pride-themed Pre-Pay Day Lunch, helping to spread the celebrations across our offices.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part throughout the month. Whether you participated in the Rowathon, attended the webinar, joined our Pride celebrations or showed your support in other ways, your involvement helped make Pride Month a meaningful celebration of diversity, inclusion and community across CluneTech.

CluneTech Volunteers Support Varna Zoo

This June, CluneTech employees took part in their first volunteering initiative at Varna Zoo, dedicating their CSR day to supporting one of the city’s most beloved attractions.

Our team of six volunteers spent the day cleaning and refreshing several areas of the zoo, helping to create a more welcoming environment for both visitors and animals. They also had the opportunity to assist with feeding and caring for some of the zoo’s residents, gaining first-hand insight into the important work carried out by the zoo’s staff.

Established in 1961, Varna Zoo spans 23 decares and is home to more than 400 animals from 60 different species. Welcoming over 150,000 visitors annually, it plays an important role in education, conservation, and animal welfare within the local community.

Driving the Future of Women in STEM with F1 in Schools

CluneTech was proud to support this year's F1 in Schools (STEM Racing) programme, an inspiring initiative that encourages young people to develop their skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through innovation, teamwork and creativity.

Ahead of the national finals in Kinsale, we welcomed the participating teams from Loreto Secondary School, Kilkenny to CluneTech, where they presented their projects and showcased the months of work that had gone into designing, engineering and promoting their race cars. It was a fantastic opportunity for our team to learn more about each project and witness firsthand the creativity, professionalism and determination of these talented young students.

We would also like to recognise their teacher, Anthony Mulvihill, whose dedication and guidance helped prepare the students throughout the competition. His commitment to encouraging young people to pursue STEM opportunities played a key role in the success of the programme.

CluneTech was delighted to support the teams on their journey to the national competition as part of our commitment to encouraging more young women to pursue opportunities in STEM.

We were thrilled to see the students perform so well at the STEM Racing National Finals, with Treoluas Racing securing an outstanding second-place finish. Congratulations to all of the students who represented Loreto Secondary School in Kinsale. Their hard work, teamwork and innovation were evident throughout the competition, and they should be incredibly proud of their achievements.

We look forward to continuing to support initiatives that inspire the next generation of female innovators, engineers and leaders.

CluneTech Cares First Quarter Recap

Our CSR Programme - CluneTech Cares, is a fantastic representation of what we are - a team of truly caring individuals giving our best to support and add value, not only to our customers, but also to the communities in which we operate. CluneTech Cares is employee-led and has three key pillars: Wellness, Culture & Community, and Sustainability. It has been a busy quarter so make sure to check out some of our latest activities below

January CSR Spotlight: Tackling Loneliness

January can be a particularly challenging time, especially for older people and those experiencing loneliness.

During January, CluneTech was proud to support ALONE in Ireland and Caritas in Bulgaria. Two remarkable organisations dedicated to reducing isolation and providing essential support to vulnerable communities.

To help raise both awareness and funds, we organised CSR Walks in Kilkenny and Dublin in support of ALONE, while our teams in Bulgaria took part in walks for Caritas.

A sincere thank you to everyone who participated, shared their 5k walk screenshots, and helped highlight this often-overlooked issue. Your contributions are making a real and lasting impact.

February CSR Spotlight: World Cancer Day

February offered a welcome opportunity for colleagues in the Kilkenny office to come together and mark Pancake Tuesday with a Pancake Bar.

This initiative not only provided an enjoyable occasion for staff to connect, but also supported the Irish Cancer Society, raising both funds and awareness for the essential services they deliver nationwide.

March Spotlight: Autism Awareness Day

This March, CluneTech proudly dedicated our CSR Spotlight to World Autism Awareness, supporting incredible charities that provide essential services to individuals and families affected by autism.

Autism is a neurological difference that shapes how people experience the world, and while awareness is growing, there’s still much work to be done in building a more understanding and inclusive society.

To raise awareness and funds, we hosted a lunchtime run/walk at our Kilkenny HQ on March 25th. Between employees and the TY students participating in the CSR walk, to people joining our Patric Fitness Class, the turnout was amazing in both our Kilkenny and Dublin HQ's! 👏

Thanks to our participation, we have made a monetary donation to our dedicated autism awareness charity going towards an amazing cause.

Blood Donation Campaign in Varna

On the 13th of March, 18 employees in Varna donated blood! In 2024, in Bulgaria, blood donation was recognized as a voluntary activity for which the company allows employees to use their company-paid volunteer day. This made organising our blood donation campaign only a matter of time and we couldn’t be prouder of the impact we’ve made together.

CluneTech Strengthens Its Commitment to FAST Heroes 112 in Varna

Thursday, 5 June 2025 – Varna, Bulgaria

CluneTech is proud to announce the continued success and growth of the award-winning educational initiative FAST Heroes 112, which has now expanded city-wide in Varna, Bulgaria. Endorsed by the World Stroke Organization and supported by CluneTech since 2022, the program currently reaches 26 kindergartens and more than 2,100 children, delivering life-saving health education to families across the region.

What began as a pilot in just one school has grown into a vital community initiative, turning health education into a celebration and raising essential stroke awareness among nearly 13,000 people in the Varna municipality.

In partnership with the Varna Municipality and the Heart to Heart Foundation Bulgaria, we remain committed to expanding the program’s impact even further.

About FAST Heroes 112

FAST Heroes 112 is an award-winning educational program, endorsed by the World Stroke Organization. It aims to raise awareness of stroke symptoms and emphasizes the importance of immediate action when these signs appear. The program harnesses children’s natural enthusiasm for learning and sharing to spread life-saving knowledge not only in kindergartens and primary schools but also within families at home.

Children aged 6 to 11 learn how to identify stroke symptoms through engaging, adventure-based lessons, and then share that knowledge with their families. On average, each child passes this information on to six adults, amplifying the program’s impact beyond the classroom walls.

Why stroke prevention matters

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in Bulgaria and worldwide, and tragically, one of the main reasons children lose their grandparents. Many stroke patients miss out on life-saving treatment because they don’t recognize symptoms early enough and arrive at the hospital too late. However, if stroke victims receive swift and effective acute care, survival rates improve dramatically.

This is why increasing awareness of stroke symptoms and empowering people to seek emergency care immediately is crucial. FAST Heroes 112 contributes to building this awareness, helping families respond quickly when it matters most.

Varna, home to our largest Bulgarian office, is also one of the cities with the highest stroke rates in the country — making this partnership especially meaningful.

Looking ahead to expand our reach

This fall, FAST Heroes 112 will continue its vital work by reaching children and families in all primary and elementary schools across Varna. Stay tuned for updates on our ongoing journey to make Varna safer — one child, one family, and one community at a time.

CluneTech Cares Fourth Quarter Recap

Our CSR Programme - CluneTech Cares, is a fantastic representation of what we are - a team of truly caring individuals giving our best to support and add value, not only to our customers, but also to the communities in which we operate. October’s CSR Spotlight: Breast Cancer Awareness

For the month of October, we are traditionally raising funds for Race for the Cure which plays a crucial role in supporting breast cancer organizations and hospitals across Europe.

With a staggering 500,000 new diagnoses and 125,000 lives lost to breast cancer in Europe every year, the funds raised through events like this are of vital importance. They enable these organizations to continue their life-saving work, providing support, research, and awareness to combat this disease.

This October, more than 150 CluneTech colleagues took part in our fundraising events for breast cancer awareness and Race for the Cure across the globe. These events included group walks in Bulgaria and Ireland and a Breast Cancer Awareness talk at our Kilkenny HQ.

In addition, Presiyana Vitanova, Desislava Georgieva, Desislava Chervenkova and Ralitsa Hristova used their Volunteer Day to distribute flyers at the St. Marina Medical Center in Varna, Bulgaria, raising awareness about the importance of breast cancer screenings.

Thanks to our team's efforts, we donated €1,590 to this incredible cause.

November’s CSR Spotlight: Movember

This November, we focused our CSR Spotlight on men’s health and the globally recognized Movember movement.

Since its inception in 2003, Movember has grown into a global movement, bringing together passionate Mo Bros and Mo Sisters – individuals dedicated to making a difference in mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. So far, the campaign has raised USD 1.4 billion, funding life-saving research and initiatives for men’s health.

Throughout November, CluneTech employees embraced the cause by growing their own moustaches and staying active for men’s mental health. For each moustache photo posted with the hashtag #Movember, CluneTech Cares generously donated €20. We also stuck to our monthly 5k challenge by donating €5 for every employee who posted a picture of their 5k into our internal communications platform.

At the close of Movember, CluneTech made a significant monetary contribution to Movember, supporting various men's health charities and organizations. A big thank you to all of our amazing colleagues for their dedication and participation.

2024 Kilkenny GAA and Camogie Academy Awards, proudly supported by CluneTech

This quarter, CluneTech had the privilege of hosting the 2024 Kilkenny GAA and Camogie Academy Awards at our Kilkenny HQ. Over two unforgettable evenings, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of the U16 Kilkenny GAA Football and Hurling Teams, as well as the U15 Kilkenny Camogie Academy and Development Squads.

The event brought together players, families, coaches, and mentors, highlighting the dedication and passion that drive Kilkenny’s young athletes. We were honored to welcome special guest speakers Henry Shefflin, Miriam Walsh, and Richie Donnelly, who inspired attendees with their words of wisdom and shared their own journeys in sport.

CluneTech is proud to support Kilkenny GAA and Kilkenny Camogie, empowering the next generation of athletes and fostering a sense of teamwork and community. These awards nights were a true reflection of the hard work and commitment of everyone involved, and we’re delighted to have played a role in celebrating their success.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the coaches, mentors, and leaders, including Michael Fennelly, Performance Lead at Kilkenny GAA, and Tommy Farrell, Kilkenny Camogie Development Officer, for their vital contributions.

December’s CSR Spotlight: Preventing Homelessness & Poverty

This December, our CSR Spotlight of the month shines on St. Vincent de Paul, a remarkable organization providing vital support to those experiencing poverty and homelessness—especially during the holidays.

SVP provides vital services such as housing assistance, food support, and education resources, making a meaningful difference in communities across Ireland—especially during the holiday season.

To help make a difference, we’re hosting a Christmas Jumper Day at our Kilkenny HQ on Wednesday, December 18th. For every festive jumper worn to the office, CluneTech will donate €5 to St. Vincent de Paul.

The jumper doesn’t need to be flashy—what truly matters is the kindness and generosity behind this initiative. Together, let’s help bring a little more joy and warmth to those in need this holiday season.

Christmas Gifts for 176 children from the Center for Special Educational Support in Varna

This December, in response to a request from a teacher, CluneTech made a generous financial donation to the Center for Special Educational Support in Varna. The donation will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for nearly 200 students who rely on the center’s services to navigate their educational journey, as they were born with special needs.

Since its transformation in August 2017, the former Special Education School "Brothers Miladinovi" in Varna has become a Center for Special Educational Support, meeting modern standards for educating children with developmental disabilities. The center currently employs over 30 teachers and 10 therapists, who provide education and care to 176 children aged 6 to 18.

The center is equipped with nine classrooms and a dedicated ergonomic therapy space. The classrooms are designed to cater to the sensory integration needs of the children, with environments tailored to each age group. In preschool and primary school classrooms, a multisensory approach alternates between learning and physical activities, all designed to engage students through practical experience. For non-verbal children on the autism spectrum and those with limited mobility due to cerebral palsy, the center uses advanced tools like the Communicator5 eye-control device for communication and Tobii games for eye training and fun.

In addition to education, the center provides consulting, diagnostic, corrective-educational, and therapeutic services aimed at addressing and compensating for the students’ individual needs.

Giving Back to Our Communities: From New York and Beyond

At CluneTech, our commitment to giving back is at the heart of everything we do. At the end of 2024, our US teams were honored to make annual donations to three exceptional organizations that tirelessly serve our communities: One to World, Coalition for the Homeless, and the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Center.

One to World

One to World enriches the global community by fostering intercultural understanding and cooperation. Through education programs and cultural exchange initiatives, they connect international students and scholars with local communities, building bridges of understanding and collaboration. We are proud to support their mission to make the world a more inclusive and connected place.

One To World provides face-to-face experiences among local communities, international students, and Fulbright scholars. Our programs foster curiosity, respect, inclusion, and community for a better world. None of this work would be possible without donors like you. We couldn’t be more grateful for your generosity and your commitment to our mission.

Deepesh Dhingra, Executive Director of One to World.

Coalition for the Homeless

The Coalition for the Homeless has been a beacon of hope for those experiencing homelessness in New York City. Offering food, shelter, and support services, they work tirelessly to help individuals and families regain stability and rebuild their lives. We are deeply inspired by their dedication and honored to contribute to their life-changing efforts.

Because of your invaluable support, the Coalition has been able to expand our services and advocacy to meet the growing need. We are committed to seeing no one go hungry, homeless, or without shelter in our city. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and compassion – you are truly making a difference.

Dave Giffen, Executive Director of Coalition for the Homeless.

The Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Center

Located in New York, the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Centre is a lifeline for Irish immigrants and the broader community, offering mental health support, senior care, and cultural programs. Our donation to the Aisling Irish Community Centre will specifically support their mental health programs, which provide critical resources and support to those in need. Their commitment to fostering connection and well-being for all who walk through their doors is truly inspiring, and we are grateful to support their vital mission.

We provide support, programs and services to approximately 15,000 people during the year. We promote wellness, infuse culture, and offer empathy with every interaction as our mission is to care for the “whole person”. With 352 private social service sessions delivered so far this year we have worked with youth, families, and seniors to provide a range of supports, meeting their individual needs. We support the Irish because we have made a commitment to our funders to do so.  We do everything else, because we are Irish. Thank you for putting a spotlight on the need for food security, and the growing need for mental health support – and for helping us to do our part in providing that support.

Sandra Feeney-Charles, Executive Director of the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Center.

We extend our sincerest thanks to these organizations for their tireless work to uplift and support those in need. Your efforts make a profound difference in the lives of so many, and we are proud to stand with you. Together, we can continue to build stronger, more inclusive communities and create a brighter future for all.

The Taxback International Team Takes on the '12 Dips of December' Challenge

Our Taxback International team showed true courage by diving into the cold River Barrow—not once, but 12 times each — as part of the '12 Dips in December' challenge.

A huge thank you to our daring participants: Cora Phelan, Therese Hegarty, Éanna Brady, Nigel O'Donovan, Nicola Delaney, Joe Forristal, Eoin Dunphy, Brian Cooney, and Clare Farrell. All of which took the plunge to support three incredible causes, the Irish Heart Foundation, Pieta and Breast Cancer Ireland

We are so grateful for the generous donations and words of encouragement from everyone who supported our team. Your contributions will go a long way in helping these essential organizations continue their lifechanging work.

We’re beyond proud of our team for their dedication. By the end of their 12 Dips of December Challenge, our team raised over 3,000 euros in total. A massive well done to all involved.

Volunteering at CluneTech

Introduced in 2021, our CSR Volunteer Day empowers each employee to give back to the charities and causes closest to them. Since the inception of Volunteer Day, 210+ CluneTech employees have contributed to causes which they find meaningful, and this number keeps growing. See what they had to share with us about their experience this quarter:

Anita Ilieva and Denis Ibrqmov: A day of giving back in their local dog shelter

This November, Denis Ibrqmov and Anita Ilieva from the TransferMate Treasury Team spent a meaningful day at a local dog shelter in their hometown Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. Here's what they had to share about their experience:

“As animal lovers, this cause is something we truly hold close to our hearts, and we felt incredibly fortunate to be able to give back in a small but impactful way.

Our visit was filled with laughter, love, and a lot of wagging tails! We spent time playing with the adorable puppies, whose energy and joy were absolutely contagious. It was a heartwarming experience, and we couldn’t help but feel a deep connection with these wonderful animals who are waiting for their forever homes.

In addition to spending time with the dogs, we also rolled up our sleeves to help clean the cages, making sure the puppies and older dogs had a clean, safe space to rest. We also donated much-needed food to the shelter, knowing how essential it is to provide them with the best care possible.

This experience reminded us just how important it is to support causes that help those who can’t speak for themselves. It’s not just about giving material things, but also about showing kindness, compassion, and love to creatures who give us so much joy in return.

We encourage everyone to get involved in their communities and support causes that matter. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness, every little bit helps."

Linda Mooney Supporting Young Athletes: A Day at the Primary School Cross Country

As part of our commitment to volunteering, Linda Mooney took a break from her customer service role to spend a day with primary school students participating in a cross-country event. This voluntary day provided her the opportunity to support young athletes and encourage their involvement in competitive running.

“I had the chance to take some time out from dealing with clients in Customer Service to spend the day with students aged 8/9 to 12 years thanks to CluneTech cares and our voluntary day. A lovely fresh Irish morning (ideal running conditions) had me walking 35 students from the school to the back field of beautiful Kilkenny Castle. We arrange them by age to get to the start line as they run them by age/class and whether boys or girls (over 800 participants so it crazy trying to not miss their start time). All the kids had great fun and we had 2nd place for 5th class girls and they got bronze for team event, 6th class boys missed out on bronze for the team but had 5th place individual. After it’s all over and few tired kids, we walk them back to the school. It’s great chance for students that are not part of Athletic club to have a chance to run and get a feel for competitive running and cross country. I had 2 of my own running in the 4th class girls and 6th class boys so was lovely to be their to cheer them on.”

CluneTech Cares Second Quarter Recap 2026

In honour of World MS Day, CluneTech Cares dedicated May's CSR spotlight to supporting people affected by multiple sclerosis and raising awareness of the challenges faced by individuals and families living with MS.

This year, we proudly hosted the CluneTech Goals for Good football match at The Watershed, bringing teammates together for an afternoon of sport, teamwork and community spirit.

CluneTech and Cois Nore: In It Together for Kilkenny’s New Cancer Support Centre

In Q1, CluneTech and Cois Nore announced a sponsorship supporting the development of a dedicated therapy wing at Cois Nore’s new Cancer Support Centre in Kilkenny, marking a significant milestone and an important investment in the future of cancer support services for the people of Kilkenny
CluneTech’s sponsorship provides vital funding for a modern, purpose-designed therapy space that will support individuals and families throughout their cancer journey.

Alongside community generosity, government support, and contributions from other supporters, this investment is helping to bring the new centre closer to completion and enables Cois Nore to continue delivering free, confidential support and professional and voluntary services to people of all ages.

Terry Clune, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of CluneTech, said:

“Kilkenny is home for many of us at CluneTech, and we recognise the importance of standing with our community during difficult times. Cancer touches so many families, and Cois Nore has been a steadfast and compassionate support to the people of Kilkenny for over a decade. We are proud to support the development of the new Cois Nore therapy wing and the vital work that will continue there. We are in it together with Cois Nore and with the people of Kilkenny.”

CluneTech Celebrates Rising Stars at Kilkenny GAA and Camogie Academy Awards

CluneTech was proud to celebrate the achievements of Kilkenny’s emerging young talent as it hosted the Kilkenny GAA and Camogie Academy Awards at its Kilkenny HQ on January 27th and 28th. Held over two evenings, the awards recognised the dedication and commitment of the U16 Kilkenny GAA hurling and football squads, alongside the U15 Kilkenny Camogie Academy and Development squads.

CluneTech has been the main sponsor of both the Kilkenny GAA Academy (Na Cait Óga) and the Kilkenny Camogie Academy since 2024, under a three-year partnership supporting more than 500 players across both pathways. The sponsorship helps fund essential operational and player-welfare costs, including transport, equipment, nutrition and medical supports, ensuring a high-performance environment can be sustained for young athletes across the county.

CluneTech Cares Backs Galmoy Juvenile Badminton Club

Based in North Kilkenny, Galmoy Juvenile Badminton Club has grown to a membership of 50 young players aged between 7 and 17, providing regular training opportunities and fostering a strong community spirit among young athletes from across the region.

Since affiliating with Badminton Ireland in 2023, the club has already enjoyed success at both school and county level, with several members selected for the U17 Kilkenny team competing in upcoming Leinster competitions.

This sponsorship forms part of CluneTech’s award-winning CSR programme, CluneTech Cares, which supports charities and community initiatives locally and internationally, with a strong impact across Kilkenny and the wider communities in which the company operates.

The new sponsorship will support the club as players represent Galmoy Juvenile Badminton Club in competitions throughout the season and we are absolutely delighted to support such an amazing organisation in our community.

Volunteering at CluneTech

Karin Dom Martenitsi Workshop

30 volunteers from the Varna office spent a  day crafting martenitsi, which later were sold at fundraising bazaars across Bulgaria, to raise funds for Karin Dom's therapeutic center and children's early development support programs. They raised over €200 for Karin Dom!

John Murphy volunteering for Daffodil Day 2026

"Today, once again I used my CSR day to support the Irish Cancer Society on Daffodil Day. I think we all know someone in our life who has been affected by Cancer and who have reached out to the Irish Cancer Society for guidance or support. Grateful to be able to give back in a small way with thanks to CluneTech Cares."

John Murphy, Fintua

Well done, John, from all here at CluneTech.

CluneTech Celebrates 25 Years in Bulgaria

CluneTech is celebrating a major milestone - 25 years since opening its first international office in Varna, Bulgaria, marking the beginning of its global journey.

What started as a small team in Varna in 2001 has grown into one of CluneTech’s largest and most important global hubs. Today, the company operates across 20 countries, continuing to expand its international footprint.

To mark the occasion, CluneTech hosted a special celebration in Varna, bringing colleagues together to recognise the local team and honour those who have been part of the journey since the very beginning.

Reflecting on the milestone, CluneTech Founder and CEO Terry Clune said:

“The 26th April marks 25 years since we established our office in Varna, Bulgaria — an incredibly important milestone for CluneTech. That step marked the beginning of our international journey and played a key role in shaping the global business we are today. I want to sincerely thank everyone, past and present, who has been part of that journey. Your contribution has played a key part in building CluneTech and the success we have achieved together as one team.”

Today, CluneTech employs nearly 800 people across Bulgaria, with more than 500 based in Varna. The team plays a critical role across the group, supporting the operations and software development of TransferMate, Fintua, Sprintax and Benamic, alongside key functions including finance, customer support, marketing and administration. The strength of the Bulgarian team is also reflected in its longevity, with more than 54% of employees having been with the company for over five years - well above industry averages.

Just days ahead of the anniversary, CluneTech reached another significant milestone, achieving its highest-ever ranking in Career Show’s Top 100 Best Employers in Bulgaria, placing 12th - up from 46th in 2023. The company was also recognised as “Best Employer in Fintech” for the third consecutive year.

As CluneTech looks to the future, it remains committed to investing in its people, supporting employee wellbeing and development, and continuing to make a positive impact in the communities where it operates.

CluneTech Cares: Plant the Planet Games with Self Help Africa 2022

We are delighted to announce that as part of our CluneTech Cares programme, CluneTech is sponsoring Plant the Planet Games in partnership with Self Help Africa, Warriors for Humanity and the Gaelic Players Association. We are also delighted to be sponsoring Kilkenny hurling legend, Paul Murphy, to participate in this initiative, which will mean 25,000 trees planted in Africa, providing a source of food, income, shelter and improved soil for thousands of African families, as well as removing up to 625 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere every year.

What is Plant the Planet Games?

Taking place in Kenya from the 19th to 27th November, the concept of the games was created by Warriors for Humanity founder and former Galway dual player Alan Kerins.

The event will feature 50 male and female Inter-County Gaelic Games players from all four codes. Joining the games will be an array of talent from Gaelic Games including Limericks Sean Finn, Wexford’s Matthew O’Hanlon, Kerry’s Stefan Okunbor, Kilkenny’s Grace Walsh and Niamh O’Sullivan of Meath, amongst others.

Each player participating in the games has committed to raising €10,000. The funds raised will go to Self Help Africa to support the planting of trees. This is essential not only to combating the increasing impact of climate change but also as a way of providing sustainable income for local communities which is why CluneTech have chosen to sponsor this amazing campaign.

We here at CluneTech are donating €10,000 in aid of Self Help Africa and to support this campaign. By doing this we hope to highlight the impact of climate change in these areas of the world while also helping raise significant funds to plant one million trees in Africa.

In addition, TransferMate, a CluneTech company, has also pledged to donate over 20,000 trees - one for every student transfer.

In Africa, the people least responsible for climate change are feeling its worst effects. Self Help Africa supports communities to plant trees: which provide shade, shelter, food, fertilizer and income. CluneTech chose to partner with this organization because of their mission to not only plant trees, but to reduce carbon and combat poverty.

The Plant the Planet Games players have been staging a number of fundraising events across the country and are seeking support from national and local businesses.

A fundraising page in support of the Warrior for Humanity, Plant the Planet Games has been set up and donations for those wishing to support can be made at: https://www.idonate.ie/event/planttheplanet

Twomey Family Remorial Weekend & Teac Tom

Founded by Elber Twomey, The Twomey Family Remorial weekend honours Elber’s family who were involved in a fatal crash that claimed the lives of her beautiful son Oisin, Elber’s unborn daughter Elber Marie and her husband Con. The remorial weekend is an annual event that ensures Oisin, Elber Marie and Con will always be remembered with the love and honour they so deserve.

Kilkenny based Teac Tom was selected as one of the four beneficiaries from the 2022 Twomey Remorial Weekend. Teac Tom was founded in 2014 by Angela Hayes. Angela and her team have been at the heart of the community supporting hundreds of families and thousands of individuals who have been courageous enough to seek their help. Teac Tom provides a safe and nurturing space for people to get support for their mental health. Their open door policy allows the charity to be accessible to everyone in the community whenever they may need it.

CluneTech employee Nigel O’Donovan presented Teac Tom with a cheque for €2,990 on behalf of the Twomey Remorial Weekend, €500 of which was donated by CluneTech. This is our fifth year supporting this incredible cause.

Help Efrem Fight Cancer

Last month, we learned about Efrem, a 5 year old boy who had been diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Although there are treatments available to Efrem, they are private and extremely expensive. These treatments are costs that Marcela, Efrem’s mother and the family cannot possibly cover on their own.

We wanted to use CluneTech Cares as a way to contribute to Marcela’s fundraiser for her little boy by donating €2,000 to help Efrem and his chance to battle this cancer. You can support Efrem’s battle here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/please-help-little-efrem-to-get-better

Griffeen Junior Parkrun

This quarter, CluneTech got involved in the Griffeen Junior Parkrun. Parkruns are free, weekly, community events all around the world.

Saturday morning events are 5k and take place in parks and open spaces.

On Sunday mornings, there are 2k junior parkruns for children aged four to 14. Parkrun is a positive, welcoming and inclusive experience where there is no time limit and no one finishes last which is why we wanted to help this initiative by making a €250 donation. This donation will go towards equipment for the Griffeen Junior Parkrun.

Platinum status for CluneTech at Deloitte Best Managed Company Awards

Friday, 29 September, 2022. Kilkenny-headquartered software technology group, CluneTech, has been recognised as one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies at a Gala Awards ceremony held in the Convention Centre, Dublin. The awards programme is led by Deloitte Ireland, in association with Bank of Ireland. This is the first year where the awards programme returned as an in-person event following the pandemic.

First recognised as one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies back in 2010, this is the seventh consecutive year that CluneTech has retained its Platinum Status - the highest accolade in these awards.

Ireland’s Best Managed Companies Awards programme promotes and recognises excellence in Irish/Northern Irish owned and managed companies and is the only awards scheme on the island of Ireland that considers a business’ performance from every perspective. Entrants to the programme compete for the designation in a rigorous process that evaluates the calibre of their management abilities and practices in addition to the strategy, capability, innovation, culture and financial performance of their companies.

Established in 1996 by entrepreneur Terry Clune, CluneTech is asuite of software technology companies, comprising Immedis, Taxback International, Taxback.com, Sprintax, Visa First, Benamic, Gradguide, and Ireland’s most recent tech unicorn, TransferMate. The group has offices in 21 countries and employs more than 1,500 people globally.

Welcoming the award, Terry Clune, CluneTech CEO and founder, said:

“We are thrilled to have been awarded the Platinum Standard Award again this year. The past year has been incredibly exciting as we have worked to expand our solutions and services offerings and grow our overseas operations as well as our customer and partner base worldwide. This award is testament to the passion and commitment of our strong leadership team and fantastic people across our business, with their continuous focus on innovation and delivering excellence.“

This year, Deloitte recognised 136 indigenous companies at the awards representing 25 of the 32 counties across Ireland.

Brian Murphy, Lead Partner for Ireland’s Best Managed Companies Awards Programme at Deloitte said: “Year-on-year we’re impressed by the businesses that qualify and requalify for our Best Managed Companies Awards and in another uncertain year, the entries continued to raise the bar. Despite the challenges these businesses faced, the management teams of the winning companies have embraced new opportunities for innovation and growth, offering best-in-class products and services to their customers and retaining their competitive advantage in a world that is ever-changing.”

Harry Goddard, CEO, Deloitte Ireland and judging panel member said:

“A stand out from the judging process this year was the distinct focus of the Best Managed Companies on their local communities, despite their own international growth and ambition. Businesses have a vital role to play in our society. It was clear from the entries this year that they were having a positive impact not only on their own business, but also on the communities around them. I look forward to seeing how these businesses continue to invest, grow and contribute to our wider society.”

CluneTech Cares Second Quarter Recap

Our CSR Programme - CluneTech Cares, is a fantastic representation of what we are - a team of truly caring individuals giving our best to support and add value, not only to our customers, but also to the communities in which we operate. CluneTech Cares is employee-led and has three key pillars: Wellness, Culture & Community, and Sustainability. It has been a busy quarter so make sure to see some of our latest activities below.

Business Run Varna 2022

On June 12th two CluneTech teams took part in Business Run Varna ranking #12 from overall 53 teams and #4 in the women's ranking. Not only was the Business Run a really great day out, but it’s also a great way to give back to charity as 30% of the registration fees from the event were also donated to Karin Dom's new therapeutical center in Varna.

Set in the beautiful city of Varna, Karin Dom's new building which is expected to open in September this year, will give children with special needs from the Northeast of Bulgaria access to vital therapy that will help them to grow in strength and confidence.

Coalition for the Homeless, New York

Through CluneTech Cares, we were honoured to make a monetary donation to the Coalition for the Homeless in New York City. Enda Kelleher, VP of Sprintax, volunteers in their soup kitchen every week and brought the amazing work that they do to our attention.

The Coalition’s Grand Central Food Program (GCFP) was founded in 1985, the day after a homeless woman died of starvation in Grand Central Terminal. Since then, the program has grown to become the largest mobile soup kitchen in America. Each night, their vans deliver between 800 and 1,200 healthy meals of hot stew, bread, fresh fruit, and juice or milk — as well as coats, hats, gloves and blankets in the colder weather — to those struggling to survive rough on the streets at 25 stops around the city. For many homeless New Yorkers, this is their only meal of the day.

In its more than 35 year history, the program has distributed more than seven million meals and has never missed a single night of operation — allowing them to build an invaluable level of trust among some of the hardest to reach and most marginalized of their homeless neighbors. The GCFP team, which includes a Mobile Outreach Worker, uses that trust to connect those on the streets with other life-changing services such as psychiatric treatment, medical care, substance abuse treatment, or shelter and vital benefits offered by the Coalition and partner organizations.

Help Jamie Fight Brain Cancer

In February, weeks after giving birth to her fourth child, Jamie Phelan (32), was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme, a rare and extremely aggressive brain tumour. Based on the statistics, life expectancy for this form of cancer is approximately 12 to 18 months from diagnosis. Only 25% of patients are lucky enough to survive more than one year, while only 5% will survive more than five years. As her best friends, we are beyond devastated and want to help.

In October 2021, Jamie’s friends created a fundraiser to raise much needed funds so that Jamie can access additional treatments that can help to prolong her life, specifically, a ground-breaking new immunotherapy treatment called DCVax which is expected to cost in excess of a staggering €200,000. At the time, CluneTech Cares made a monetary donation to the cause, as requested by a number of employees. In June 2022, a night of music to raise further funds was held in County Waterford where we were honoured to donate a spot prize for the raffle on the night.

Fourth season of our Career Counselling Program

Our career counselling program is our way to show we care about the young generation and their future career development. For a fourth year in a row CluneTech’s career counselling program took place in Varna High School of Commerce during the academic year 2021-2022. The program aims to help young people to acquire and develop specific skills that will help them get the best out of their career exploration, job search and job application processes.

CluneTech Goes Green

With one of the key pillars of our CSR Programme CluneTech Cares being sustainability, we could not miss all recent events under the #CluneTechGoesGreen umbrella which we organized for our staff globally. These included daily sustainability tips, recycling and grow your own veg webinars, and last but not least - in-person clean-up events. Read more about two of them below.

World Earth Day on April 22nd

To mark World Earth Day our teams in Kilkenny took part in a special event in partnership with Leave No Trace Ireland. Padraic Creedon from Leave No Trace Ireland led our team on a clean-up around Kilkenny while providing valuable and insightful information on how we can all be more sustainable in our every day lives.

#NoElevatorsDay

At the end of April, a group of colleagues in Varna, Bulgaria took part in #NoElevatorsDay and the competition #StairsWithoutWaste. Our volunteers also cleaned the whole area near Galata Beach to make it a nicer place for all its visitors. See what the main organizer of the initiative, Miroslav Todorov, had to share about the cause and CluneTech’s volunteers. Power Jump #clunetechgoesgreen

Shoes for the youngsters from Community-based social service “Izgrev” in Varna

This June, we awarded with brand new sneakers the young people from the community-based housing center “Izgrev” in Varna following their participation in the International MOVE Week. MOVE Week is an annual global event showcasing the benefits of being active and participating regularly in sport and physical activity. The event was organized by Power Jump in one of the lesser known and poorer neighbourhoods in Varna however it succeeded bringing the people in it together for an afternoon full of physical activities and fun. The young people from the community-based housing center “Izgrev” volunteered in this by organizing and coordinating some of the activities in the afternoon.

Therapeutic Juggling Table for the children with special needs in Veliko Tarnovo

Recently, CluneTech and our Veliko Tarnovo team made a great contribution to the local Daycare Center for children with disabilities. We  donated a brand new juggle board that will help the children in the center to improve their hand-eye coordination and increase their focused concentration.

Volunteering at CluneTech

Introduced in 2021, our CSR Volunteer Day empowers each employee to give back to the charities and causes closest to them. Since the inception of Volunteer Day 58 CluneTech employees contributed to causes which they find meaningful, and this number keeps growing. See what some of them shared with us about their experience:

Ralitsa Mladenova and Galina Kirilova, who supported the local Red Cross Centre in Veliko Tarnovo:

“We participated in the initiative “Children help children” organized by the Ministry of Education together with the Bulgarian Red Cross. The purpose was collection of essential goods that will be sent to Bulgarian Sunday Schools in Ukraine (there are 63 such schools attended by over 10 000 children). We accepted the donations from schools in VT area, recorded and organised the goods and prepared them for shipping to the children in need.

It was so fulfilling to be part of this campaign. We all can make a difference and we are lucky our employer supports us in that.”

Joanne Buckeridge who volunteered at CBS Primary Kilkenny:

“I used my volunteer day to support a school fundraiser. It was the first fundraiser in over 2 years and it was a brilliant day. The children loved it and it was the first time many of the parents were able to pass the school gates. There was also great excitement for the raffle as the first prize was sponsored by CluneTech. I am delighted to say we exceeded our expectations and raised enough funds to purchase new equipment for the school. Thank you CluneTech!”

Women in Tech: Elena Koeva, .NET Developer at Sprintax

In this Women in Tech feature, we talk about women who have chosen to pursue a career in Tech - how they decided on it, what challenges they faced and what motivates them. By doing so, we want to highlight that the tech industry is a place for women too.

Meet Elena Koeva - .NET Developer at Sprintax, part of CluneTech. Sprintax is a multi-jurisdiction, tax compliance software, which simplifies tax withholding and tax return filing for nonresidents and their employers.

Tell us a bit about your education.

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Electronics. I specialized in Microelectronics at the Technical University of Sofia. Before that, I studied at the Ivan Vazov Secondary School in Dobrich with a profile in Informatics, Mathematics, and Physics.

How did your career in tech start?

I started in the tech field as a QA Specialist. In the beginning, everything was new to me, but over time I started to get better at understanding the details and gradually moved forward from manual to automation testing. I needed a programming language to automate. Since then my life has changed, and programming has become my new passion.

In Taxback.com, of which Sprintax is part, I was given the opportunity to develop and progress my career and from a QA Specialist I became a .NET Developer. I started training so I could become a programmer, but in the meantime, I also performed the QA tasks I had. For a while, I combined both positions, but once I became good enough, my position changed and I started to deal mainly with programming, and the training of new QA specialists.

What is your current role in the company?

I’m currently working as a Mid-Level .NET Developer. My job is mostly to program and to create the desired functionality for a particular software product, whether it’s a new or old product. I am also the person who onboards all of our new team members, providing them with the relevant training so they can also move forward with their careers once they’re ready.

For you personally, what is the most motivating and interesting aspect of your work?

What motivates me is the desire to see something finished and working, which will please not only the people who invented it, but also the people that will use it and whose work we can make easier. It is extremely intriguing to observe people's reactions when you present them with something you have developed. It’s rewarding to be able to feel their enthusiasm and excitement, especially if what you’re presenting is better than what they expected.

What is the biggest challenge you face as a woman working in tech?

Perhaps the biggest challenge is to try to dispel the doubts in others that you will not be able to cope because you are of the fairer sex. Fortunately, over time, these doubts disappear completely.

One of the clichés is that the tech industry is for men. How do you feel among your colleagues?

Fortunately for me, the department I work in right now is great, and there are a lot of talented people working in it. All of my colleagues are true professionals, extremely understanding, and would always respond if you need help. With us, you either do your job or not, it doesn't matter what your gender is.

What are the biggest clichés you've heard about women in the tech industry?

Unfortunately, there are many that I have heard, but I will mention those that have impressed me the most. They are that women don't have logical thinking, that they are not good at STEM, or my favorite, that women can't build a career because they have to start a family.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I draw, arrange puzzles, read books or just meet with friends and play board games.

If you could give a message to girls who are starting out in their careers, what would you tell them - why choose tech?

The tech field is quite an extensive area, and it offers great development if you have the desire for this and if you are motivated. My advice to all girls is to not be influenced by other people's opinions, to fight for what they like, because to me, the most important thing is to that I enjoy what I do.
