CluneTech is celebrating a major milestone - 25 years since opening its first international office in Varna, Bulgaria, marking the beginning of its global journey.
What started as a small team in Varna in 2001 has grown into one of CluneTech’s largest and most important global hubs. Today, the company operates across 20 countries, continuing to expand its international footprint.
To mark the occasion, CluneTech hosted a special celebration in Varna, bringing colleagues together to recognise the local team and honour those who have been part of the journey since the very beginning.
Reflecting on the milestone, CluneTech Founder and CEO Terry Clune said:
“The 26th April marks 25 years since we established our office in Varna, Bulgaria — an incredibly important milestone for CluneTech. That step marked the beginning of our international journey and played a key role in shaping the global business we are today. I want to sincerely thank everyone, past and present, who has been part of that journey. Your contribution has played a key part in building CluneTech and the success we have achieved together as one team.”
Today, CluneTech employs nearly 800 people across Bulgaria, with more than 500 based in Varna. The team plays a critical role across the group, supporting the operations and software development of TransferMate, Fintua, Sprintax and Benamic, alongside key functions including finance, customer support, marketing and administration. The strength of the Bulgarian team is also reflected in its longevity, with more than 54% of employees having been with the company for over five years - well above industry averages.
Just days ahead of the anniversary, CluneTech reached another significant milestone, achieving its highest-ever ranking in Career Show’s Top 100 Best Employers in Bulgaria, placing 12th - up from 46th in 2023. The company was also recognised as “Best Employer in Fintech” for the third consecutive year.
As CluneTech looks to the future, it remains committed to investing in its people, supporting employee wellbeing and development, and continuing to make a positive impact in the communities where it operates.

This latest recognition marks another step forward in CluneTech’s steady progression in recent years, moving from 46th place in 2023, to 26th in 2024, and 14th in 2025, before reaching its current position. The result follows a successful showing at the Career Show Awards in October 2025, where CluneTech received three gold awards, alongside two individual recognitions for Albena Pashova, Global Indirect Tax Recovery Manager and Nikolena Doncheva, Recruitment Specialist from our team.
CluneTech’s position in the Career Show Index is driven by multiple recognitions received over the past three years, including:
• Best Employer in Fintech for three consecutive years
• Best Employee Recognition Strategy
• Best Office Environment for the company’s renovated Lounge & Meeting Space in Bulgaria
These awards reflect a continued investment in employee experience, workplace culture, and creating an environment where people can thrive - both professionally and personally.
The Top 100 Best Employers in Bulgaria ranking is part of Career Show’s annual initiative, which also includes one of the country’s leading employer branding competitions and its largest career expo. The index evaluates companies based on awards received over a three-year period, recognising organisations that demonstrate consistent performance in areas such as talent development, employee engagement, and workplace environment.
This recognition comes as CluneTech marks 25 years since establishing its presence in Bulgaria, representing a quarter-century of continuous growth and innovation. Over that time, the company has become a well-established and trusted employer on the local market.
Founded in 1996 by entrepreneur Terry Clune, CluneTech is a suite of software technology companies, including TransferMate, Sprintax, Fintua, and Benamic. Today, the organisation employs over 800 professionals in Bulgaria and more than 1,200 globally, across finance, technology, marketing, and customer support roles, all contributing to the success of its international operations.

Through this rebrand, the company reaffirms its dedication to delivering smarter, more scalable fintech solutions designed to accelerate positive digital transformation across the indirect tax ecosystem.

Fintua embodies the natural evolution of Taxback International—from a VAT reclaim specialist to a global technology leader within the wider fintech industry. The name “Fintua” uniquely combines our fintech expertise with a strong connection to our Irish roots. “Fin” highlights our focus on financial technology, while “Tua,” inspired by the Irish word tuath (meaning people or community), underscores our collaborative, client-centric ethos.

Read MOREAt CluneTech, we have an extensive Milestone Recognition Program that rewards employees that choose to build along and successful career with us. As part of this programme, we love celebrating and sharing the stories of those reaching major milestones with the company.
This month we caught up with Taxback International's Senior Strategic Manager, Nigel O'Donovan who has been on our team for the last 15 years.
What is your favorite thing about working in CluneTech / Taxback International
The people. I’ve made some really good friends during my 15 years at CluneTech.
What has been your biggest achievement or highlight since joining CluneTech / Taxback International?
On a personal level, winning employee of the year in 2018 and another award in 2022 was great. Also the amazing support shown by CluneTech and Clunetech employees to the charity I’m involved in, the Twomey Remorial, has been incredible. Pre-Covid, we always had great turnouts at the yearly Twomey walks and CluneTech also supported very generously.
What is the biggest change that you have witnessed in your time here?
Covid and working from home has been the biggest change. It’s good to be back in the office on a hybrid basis, which I think suits most people.
What is the greatest challenge that you have faced in your time here and how did you overcome it?
Sales is always challenging, the ability to stay constantly motivated and hit targets year on year is demanding. Thankfully we have a really good team in TBI that offers support to these challenges. Also, switching from a service sale to SaaS sale was challenging. Again, the support we were offered as a sales team from the wider team was key to overcoming this challenge.
What has been your favourite project to work on?
I loved the partnership with Concur and the many Concur events we attended as a team over the years. We built unbelievable relationships with our clients and our partner. We worked very hard, but also always made sure we had a good time whilst doing it!
Do you have advice for someone who is just starting their career in CluneTech / Taxback International?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice. There’s a huge amount of experience in the organization and everyone wants to see you succeed. If you don’t know, ask.

This month we caught up with Benamic's Iveta Sarieva, Head of CRM & Web Development, who has been on our team for the last 10 years.
What is your favorite thing about working in CluneTech / Benamic?
I still remember my first days and the impression I had back then—I felt like everyone was a potential friend, and there was a strong sense of equality regardless of position. I never felt afraid to share my thoughts, even with my manager. I thrive in a democratic leadership style, rather than an authoritarian one, so that openness and inclusivity are definitely my favorite things about working here.
What has been your biggest achievement or highlight since joining CluneTech / Benamic?
Work-wise, I started as a Customer Service Representative, moved into a Business Analysis internship just out of curiosity, and after a few years of growth in that role, transitioned to Project Management. That eventually led me to my current position as Head of Development.
On a personal level, some of my closest friends today are people I met within the company, which is a significant achievement, even though it's not directly work-related.
What is the biggest change that you have witnessed in your time here?
The biggest change I’ve seen is the improvement in work-life balance and the increased flexibility we now have. It’s been one of the most noticeable shifts over time.
What is the greatest challenge that you have faced in your time here and how did you overcome it?
Managing people has been the most challenging aspect, as everyone comes with their own personality, struggles, and needs. Balancing empathy with work demands can be hard. I wouldn’t say I’ve fully overcome it, but I’ve found helpful insights through podcasts and various resources that have shaped how I approach and handle these challenges.
What has been your favourite project to work on?
I don’t have a specific favorite project, but I generally prefer larger, more complex ones over smaller, routine tasks. I also enjoy projects that allow for creativity and include visual elements.
Do you have advice for someone who is just starting their career in CluneTech / Benamic?
Take on challenges because, in the end, they will open doors to new opportunities.

This month we caught up with TransferMate's Linda Maher, Financial Assistant, who has been on our team for the last 10 years.
What is your favorite thing about working in CluneTech / TransferMate?
My favourite thing about working in CluneTech is the ability to work from home. It provides me with such a great work life balance, and less stress commuting to work. Having said that, I also love going into the office on Wednesdays to see people and catch up in the office with everyone.
What has been your biggest achievement or highlight since joining CluneTech / TransferMate?
My biggest highlight since joining would be winning Employee of the Quarter in 2016.
What is the biggest change that you have witnessed in your time here?
The growth of the company has been the biggest change I have witnessed since I joined the group. The number of entities we now produce accounts for has grown significantly over the years. You only need to look and see how big the finance team has grown to facilitate all the reporting requirements and deadlines we have. The team is three to four times bigger now than when I started in the company.
What is the greatest challenge that you have faced in your time here and how did you overcome it?
My greatest challenge faced was back in 2016 when I was called up last minute to help process payroll for the Group. I think there was nine or ten entities at the time to be processed. I had never processed payroll before so it was a huge challenge, but I must have done a good job as I’ve been involved with payroll ever since! I definitely wouldn’t have been as successful if it wasn’t for the senior accountants across the group at that time. Everyone helped out and we got everyone paid correct and on time.
What has been your favourite project to work on?
I was involved in bringing the sales commissions calculations away from excel and into Salesforce. It was great to work with the Salesforce team and see how the reports would be produced and do something different to month end accounts. I’m currently helping on something similar with Power BI which I am really enjoying.
Do you have advice for someone who is just starting their career in CluneTech / TransferMate?
There is no such thing as a ‘stupid question’ so don’t be afraid to ask – by asking questions you are gaining knowledge, and ‘knowledge is power’.

This month we caught up with Encho Yordanov, Sprintax's Manager, who has been on our team for 20 years.
One of the best things about working at CluneTech is the opportunity to achieve your goals. The company fosters open communication at all levels, from our peers to our CEO's. If you have a good idea, you can easily share it and receive the necessary tools and support to bring it to life. This culture of approachable colleagues is rare and something we should value.
It's difficult to pinpoint a single achievement, just as it's hard to choose a favorite book if you're a book enthusiast. Every small accomplishment is a part of an ongoing journey that has spanned 20 years now, and I hope it continues.
The most significant change for me, and likely for everyone, was the shift to remote work due to COVID-19. Personally, I'm not a fan of working from home; I prefer coming to the office, interacting with colleagues, and keeping home as a place to unwind.
Like achievements, each challenge is important. As a team, we approach every challenge with the necessary attention, focus, and respect, enabling us to overcome them and turn them into opportunities.
To date, my favorite project has been working on Sprintax. Despite challenges like tax law changes that reduced refunds and the decrease in students traveling to the U.S. during the COVID years, we managed to achieve better results by automating the process and making it scalable, with a strong focus on technology.
Absolutely. My advice is: “Make the most of your time!” CluneTech is full of opportunities; you just need to seek them out and seize them. To succeed, it's essential to have the right attitude. If you're spending 8 hours of your day at work, ensure that you're investing in yourself. If you treat your job as "just a job," there's a high chance you'll be seen as "just an employee." Make those 8 hours count—strive to achieve more every day, and you will find it rewarding.

This month we caught up with TransferMate's Cathal Byrne, Client Onboarding Specialist, who has been on our team for the last 5 years.
My favorite thing is the people. They are all so outgoing and helpful, I would be lost without the members of my team who get me through each and every day.
My biggest achievement since joining has to be winning the One Team Award for Q2 back in 2023. It’s a great honor to be recognized for my hard work by my colleagues.
The speed in which the company just continues to expand on a global scale. We have new strategic partnerships week to week. I really believe there is no limit to how far we can go.
I suppose moving from working in the office to working from home during Covid-19, as this was something I had never done before, but like everything the company made it an extremely comfortable transition for us all. Having the option of working from the office or from home is one of my favorite things about the job.
I have enjoyed being involved in the majority of our major strategic partnerships to date. There has been so many now, but I enjoy going through the whole lifecycle of it all, bringing clients from onboarding to go-live and managing existing clients on a support level.
Never be afraid to ask questions, as everyone is always willing to help. This is another thing that really makes this company a Great Place to Work.

This month we caught up with Taxback International's Joe Healy, Chief Growth Officer, who has been on our team for the last 15 years.
There are numerous reasons, but foremost among them is our status as an Irish Company operating globally. I've always taken pride in wearing the Green Jersey of Ireland while abroad with the Irish Cycling Team, and now I have the opportunity to do so while representing CluneTech.
Additionally, I relish the chance to be at the forefront of addressing challenges for our global enterprise clients through our innovative financial technology platforms. It's the very essence of why we're passionate about what we do!
My biggest highlight since joining has been building relationships and best in class solutions with partners such as SAP Concur and more recently, WTS Global. Our partner channel is awesome, and nothing beats collaborating with like-minded individuals.
The transition from solely a service-oriented company to a fintech powerhouse has been the biggest change. Our agility in adapting to the ever-changing landscape has enabled us to develop solutions which will secure our success into the future.
Undoubtedly, the most formidable obstacle we have faced was the global pandemic. Travel bans hit our business hard, raising concerns about the recovery of business travel.
However, our unified team spirit saw us through. Collaborating with forward-thinking teammates who strive to innovate new solutions has made us even stronger in the post-pandemic era.
Establishing our partnership with SAP Concur 15 years ago was a pivotal moment that set us on the path to dominating the VAT reclaim industry, so it holds a special significance for me.
At that time, we needed to win over the US-based tax team to advance our partnership. After numerous meetings, I succeeded in securing Concur for VAT reclaim and compliance, demonstrating the value and excellence of our service firsthand. This elevated our partnership to the next level.
Our sales team forged strong relationships with the Concur sales team, which generated a phenomenal number of leads year after year. As Concur’s growth trajectory propelled them to become the world's leading Expense Management System provider, our growth mirrored theirs, making us the top VAT reclaim provider globally.
Don’t be confined by any preconceived notions, the opportunities at CluneTech are limitless.
Allow yourself to cultivate ideas and solutions fearlessly, addressing the challenges of business today. Cultivate meaningful relationships with your colleagues, clients, and partners because ultimately, business is about people connecting with people!

January can be a particularly challenging time, especially for older people and those experiencing loneliness.
During January, CluneTech was proud to support ALONE in Ireland and Caritas in Bulgaria. Two remarkable organisations dedicated to reducing isolation and providing essential support to vulnerable communities.
To help raise both awareness and funds, we organised CSR Walks in Kilkenny and Dublin in support of ALONE, while our teams in Bulgaria took part in walks for Caritas.
A sincere thank you to everyone who participated, shared their 5k walk screenshots, and helped highlight this often-overlooked issue. Your contributions are making a real and lasting impact.

February offered a welcome opportunity for colleagues in the Kilkenny office to come together and mark Pancake Tuesday with a Pancake Bar.
This initiative not only provided an enjoyable occasion for staff to connect, but also supported the Irish Cancer Society, raising both funds and awareness for the essential services they deliver nationwide.

This March, CluneTech proudly dedicated our CSR Spotlight to World Autism Awareness, supporting incredible charities that provide essential services to individuals and families affected by autism.
Autism is a neurological difference that shapes how people experience the world, and while awareness is growing, there’s still much work to be done in building a more understanding and inclusive society.
To raise awareness and funds, we hosted a lunchtime run/walk at our Kilkenny HQ on March 25th. Between employees and the TY students participating in the CSR walk, to people joining our Patric Fitness Class, the turnout was amazing in both our Kilkenny and Dublin HQ's! 👏
Thanks to our participation, we have made a monetary donation to our dedicated autism awareness charity going towards an amazing cause.
On the 13th of March, 18 employees in Varna donated blood! In 2024, in Bulgaria, blood donation was recognized as a voluntary activity for which the company allows employees to use their company-paid volunteer day. This made organising our blood donation campaign only a matter of time and we couldn’t be prouder of the impact we’ve made together.

CluneTech is proud to announce the continued success and growth of the award-winning educational initiative FAST Heroes 112, which has now expanded city-wide in Varna, Bulgaria. Endorsed by the World Stroke Organization and supported by CluneTech since 2022, the program currently reaches 26 kindergartens and more than 2,100 children, delivering life-saving health education to families across the region.
What began as a pilot in just one school has grown into a vital community initiative, turning health education into a celebration and raising essential stroke awareness among nearly 13,000 people in the Varna municipality.
In partnership with the Varna Municipality and the Heart to Heart Foundation Bulgaria, we remain committed to expanding the program’s impact even further.
FAST Heroes 112 is an award-winning educational program, endorsed by the World Stroke Organization. It aims to raise awareness of stroke symptoms and emphasizes the importance of immediate action when these signs appear. The program harnesses children’s natural enthusiasm for learning and sharing to spread life-saving knowledge not only in kindergartens and primary schools but also within families at home.
Children aged 6 to 11 learn how to identify stroke symptoms through engaging, adventure-based lessons, and then share that knowledge with their families. On average, each child passes this information on to six adults, amplifying the program’s impact beyond the classroom walls.

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in Bulgaria and worldwide, and tragically, one of the main reasons children lose their grandparents. Many stroke patients miss out on life-saving treatment because they don’t recognize symptoms early enough and arrive at the hospital too late. However, if stroke victims receive swift and effective acute care, survival rates improve dramatically.
This is why increasing awareness of stroke symptoms and empowering people to seek emergency care immediately is crucial. FAST Heroes 112 contributes to building this awareness, helping families respond quickly when it matters most.
Varna, home to our largest Bulgarian office, is also one of the cities with the highest stroke rates in the country — making this partnership especially meaningful.
This fall, FAST Heroes 112 will continue its vital work by reaching children and families in all primary and elementary schools across Varna. Stay tuned for updates on our ongoing journey to make Varna safer — one child, one family, and one community at a time.

CluneTech Cares is employee-led and has three key pillars: Wellness, Culture & Community, and Sustainability. It has been a busy quarter so make sure to check out some of our latest activities below.
For the month of October, we are traditionally raising funds for Race for the Cure which plays a crucial role in supporting breast cancer organizations and hospitals across Europe.
With a staggering 500,000 new diagnoses and 125,000 lives lost to breast cancer in Europe every year, the funds raised through events like this are of vital importance. They enable these organizations to continue their life-saving work, providing support, research, and awareness to combat this disease.
This October, more than 150 CluneTech colleagues took part in our fundraising events for breast cancer awareness and Race for the Cure across the globe. These events included group walks in Bulgaria and Ireland and a Breast Cancer Awareness talk at our Kilkenny HQ.
In addition, Presiyana Vitanova, Desislava Georgieva, Desislava Chervenkova and Ralitsa Hristova used their Volunteer Day to distribute flyers at the St. Marina Medical Center in Varna, Bulgaria, raising awareness about the importance of breast cancer screenings.
Thanks to our team's efforts, we donated €1,590 to this incredible cause.

This November, we focused our CSR Spotlight on men’s health and the globally recognized Movember movement.
Since its inception in 2003, Movember has grown into a global movement, bringing together passionate Mo Bros and Mo Sisters – individuals dedicated to making a difference in mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. So far, the campaign has raised USD 1.4 billion, funding life-saving research and initiatives for men’s health.
Throughout November, CluneTech employees embraced the cause by growing their own moustaches and staying active for men’s mental health. For each moustache photo posted with the hashtag #Movember, CluneTech Cares generously donated €20. We also stuck to our monthly 5k challenge by donating €5 for every employee who posted a picture of their 5k into our internal communications platform.
At the close of Movember, CluneTech made a significant monetary contribution to Movember, supporting various men's health charities and organizations. A big thank you to all of our amazing colleagues for their dedication and participation.

This quarter, CluneTech had the privilege of hosting the 2024 Kilkenny GAA and Camogie Academy Awards at our Kilkenny HQ. Over two unforgettable evenings, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of the U16 Kilkenny GAA Football and Hurling Teams, as well as the U15 Kilkenny Camogie Academy and Development Squads.
The event brought together players, families, coaches, and mentors, highlighting the dedication and passion that drive Kilkenny’s young athletes. We were honored to welcome special guest speakers Henry Shefflin, Miriam Walsh, and Richie Donnelly, who inspired attendees with their words of wisdom and shared their own journeys in sport.
CluneTech is proud to support Kilkenny GAA and Kilkenny Camogie, empowering the next generation of athletes and fostering a sense of teamwork and community. These awards nights were a true reflection of the hard work and commitment of everyone involved, and we’re delighted to have played a role in celebrating their success.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the coaches, mentors, and leaders, including Michael Fennelly, Performance Lead at Kilkenny GAA, and Tommy Farrell, Kilkenny Camogie Development Officer, for their vital contributions.

This December, our CSR Spotlight of the month shines on St. Vincent de Paul, a remarkable organization providing vital support to those experiencing poverty and homelessness—especially during the holidays.
SVP provides vital services such as housing assistance, food support, and education resources, making a meaningful difference in communities across Ireland—especially during the holiday season.
To help make a difference, we’re hosting a Christmas Jumper Day at our Kilkenny HQ on Wednesday, December 18th. For every festive jumper worn to the office, CluneTech will donate €5 to St. Vincent de Paul.
The jumper doesn’t need to be flashy—what truly matters is the kindness and generosity behind this initiative. Together, let’s help bring a little more joy and warmth to those in need this holiday season.

This December, in response to a request from a teacher, CluneTech made a generous financial donation to the Center for Special Educational Support in Varna. The donation will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for nearly 200 students who rely on the center’s services to navigate their educational journey, as they were born with special needs.
Since its transformation in August 2017, the former Special Education School "Brothers Miladinovi" in Varna has become a Center for Special Educational Support, meeting modern standards for educating children with developmental disabilities. The center currently employs over 30 teachers and 10 therapists, who provide education and care to 176 children aged 6 to 18.
The center is equipped with nine classrooms and a dedicated ergonomic therapy space. The classrooms are designed to cater to the sensory integration needs of the children, with environments tailored to each age group. In preschool and primary school classrooms, a multisensory approach alternates between learning and physical activities, all designed to engage students through practical experience. For non-verbal children on the autism spectrum and those with limited mobility due to cerebral palsy, the center uses advanced tools like the Communicator5 eye-control device for communication and Tobii games for eye training and fun.
In addition to education, the center provides consulting, diagnostic, corrective-educational, and therapeutic services aimed at addressing and compensating for the students’ individual needs.
At CluneTech, our commitment to giving back is at the heart of everything we do. At the end of 2024, our US teams were honored to make annual donations to three exceptional organizations that tirelessly serve our communities: One to World, Coalition for the Homeless, and the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Center.
One to World enriches the global community by fostering intercultural understanding and cooperation. Through education programs and cultural exchange initiatives, they connect international students and scholars with local communities, building bridges of understanding and collaboration. We are proud to support their mission to make the world a more inclusive and connected place.
One To World provides face-to-face experiences among local communities, international students, and Fulbright scholars. Our programs foster curiosity, respect, inclusion, and community for a better world. None of this work would be possible without donors like you. We couldn’t be more grateful for your generosity and your commitment to our mission.
Deepesh Dhingra, Executive Director of One to World.
The Coalition for the Homeless has been a beacon of hope for those experiencing homelessness in New York City. Offering food, shelter, and support services, they work tirelessly to help individuals and families regain stability and rebuild their lives. We are deeply inspired by their dedication and honored to contribute to their life-changing efforts.
Because of your invaluable support, the Coalition has been able to expand our services and advocacy to meet the growing need. We are committed to seeing no one go hungry, homeless, or without shelter in our city. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and compassion – you are truly making a difference.
Dave Giffen, Executive Director of Coalition for the Homeless.
Located in New York, the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Centre is a lifeline for Irish immigrants and the broader community, offering mental health support, senior care, and cultural programs. Our donation to the Aisling Irish Community Centre will specifically support their mental health programs, which provide critical resources and support to those in need. Their commitment to fostering connection and well-being for all who walk through their doors is truly inspiring, and we are grateful to support their vital mission.
We provide support, programs and services to approximately 15,000 people during the year. We promote wellness, infuse culture, and offer empathy with every interaction as our mission is to care for the “whole person”. With 352 private social service sessions delivered so far this year we have worked with youth, families, and seniors to provide a range of supports, meeting their individual needs. We support the Irish because we have made a commitment to our funders to do so. We do everything else, because we are Irish. Thank you for putting a spotlight on the need for food security, and the growing need for mental health support – and for helping us to do our part in providing that support.
Sandra Feeney-Charles, Executive Director of the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Center.
We extend our sincerest thanks to these organizations for their tireless work to uplift and support those in need. Your efforts make a profound difference in the lives of so many, and we are proud to stand with you. Together, we can continue to build stronger, more inclusive communities and create a brighter future for all.

Our Taxback International team showed true courage by diving into the cold River Barrow—not once, but 12 times each — as part of the '12 Dips in December' challenge.
A huge thank you to our daring participants: Cora Phelan, Therese Hegarty, Éanna Brady, Nigel O'Donovan, Nicola Delaney, Joe Forristal, Eoin Dunphy, Brian Cooney, and Clare Farrell. All of which took the plunge to support three incredible causes, the Irish Heart Foundation, Pieta and Breast Cancer Ireland
We are so grateful for the generous donations and words of encouragement from everyone who supported our team. Your contributions will go a long way in helping these essential organizations continue their lifechanging work.
We’re beyond proud of our team for their dedication. By the end of their 12 Dips of December Challenge, our team raised over 3,000 euros in total. A massive well done to all involved.

Introduced in 2021, our CSR Volunteer Day empowers each employee to give back to the charities and causes closest to them. Since the inception of Volunteer Day, 210+ CluneTech employees have contributed to causes which they find meaningful, and this number keeps growing. See what they had to share with us about their experience this quarter:
Anita Ilieva and Denis Ibrqmov: A day of giving back in their local dog shelter
This November, Denis Ibrqmov and Anita Ilieva from the TransferMate Treasury Team spent a meaningful day at a local dog shelter in their hometown Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. Here's what they had to share about their experience:
“As animal lovers, this cause is something we truly hold close to our hearts, and we felt incredibly fortunate to be able to give back in a small but impactful way.
Our visit was filled with laughter, love, and a lot of wagging tails! We spent time playing with the adorable puppies, whose energy and joy were absolutely contagious. It was a heartwarming experience, and we couldn’t help but feel a deep connection with these wonderful animals who are waiting for their forever homes.
In addition to spending time with the dogs, we also rolled up our sleeves to help clean the cages, making sure the puppies and older dogs had a clean, safe space to rest. We also donated much-needed food to the shelter, knowing how essential it is to provide them with the best care possible.
This experience reminded us just how important it is to support causes that help those who can’t speak for themselves. It’s not just about giving material things, but also about showing kindness, compassion, and love to creatures who give us so much joy in return.
We encourage everyone to get involved in their communities and support causes that matter. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness, every little bit helps."

Linda Mooney Supporting Young Athletes: A Day at the Primary School Cross Country
As part of our commitment to volunteering, Linda Mooney took a break from her customer service role to spend a day with primary school students participating in a cross-country event. This voluntary day provided her the opportunity to support young athletes and encourage their involvement in competitive running.
“I had the chance to take some time out from dealing with clients in Customer Service to spend the day with students aged 8/9 to 12 years thanks to CluneTech cares and our voluntary day. A lovely fresh Irish morning (ideal running conditions) had me walking 35 students from the school to the back field of beautiful Kilkenny Castle. We arrange them by age to get to the start line as they run them by age/class and whether boys or girls (over 800 participants so it crazy trying to not miss their start time). All the kids had great fun and we had 2nd place for 5th class girls and they got bronze for team event, 6th class boys missed out on bronze for the team but had 5th place individual. After it’s all over and few tired kids, we walk them back to the school. It’s great chance for students that are not part of Athletic club to have a chance to run and get a feel for competitive running and cross country. I had 2 of my own running in the 4th class girls and 6th class boys so was lovely to be their to cheer them on.”

Our CSR Spotlight of the Month initiative shines a light on a specific charity or cause for our teams to support. During this time, employees from around the world can join in a remote or in-person 5k walk, run, swim, or cycle.
This July, we focused our efforts on supporting The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation and Karin Dom, two organizations dedicated to improving children's health and well-being.
The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation provides vital in-home nursing and end-of-life care for children with severe and life-limiting conditions throughout Ireland. The foundation offers families much-needed respite and support, ensuring that children receive compassionate care in the comfort of their homes.
Karin Dom is a Bulgarian non-profit organization founded in 1996 by Ivan Stancioff. It serves as a therapeutic center for children with special needs, employing a team of skilled professionals, including physiotherapists, speech therapists, and social workers. Despite their impactful work, Karin Dom faces ongoing challenges due to increasing costs.
Thanks to our team’s involvement throughout July, CluneTech donated over €350 on behalf of our staff to these dedicated charities, supporting their essential services for children and families in Ireland and Bulgaria.

In celebration of International Dog Day, our August CSR Spotlight focused on supporting animal welfare organizations. Donations raised went towards the life-saving efforts of charities and groups working to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need.
Our primary beneficiary during August was PAWS, an organization dedicated to rescuing abandoned and homeless animals, mainly dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. PAWS collaborates with volunteers, local vets, and adoption groups to rescue hundreds of animals each year, provide them with temporary care, and find them loving forever homes.
A highlight of the month was the Lucky Hunt Project Charity Bazaar, which was organized in support of Lucky Hunt. Founded 13 years ago by Svetlana Hunt, Lucky Hunt operates two facilities: a rehabilitation farm for rescued animals and an open-concept shelter for stray dogs, where the animals are not kept in cages. Over the years, the Lucky Hunt Project has rescued and rehabilitated thousands of homeless animals, providing them with a safe environment and a chance at finding forever homes.
The charity bazaar was a tremendous success, with contributions making a significant impact on the shelter’s ability to provide vital resources to animals in need. Employees had the opportunity to learn more about Lucky Hunt’s mission, support the cause, and contribute directly to helping these animals.
Thanks to our team’s active participation, CluneTech made a monetary donation to support animal welfare initiatives, making a meaningful difference for organizations like Lucky Hunt and other beneficiaries. Thank you to everyone who took part and showed their support!

In September, CluneTech Cares honored World Suicide Awareness Month by dedicating our CSR Spotlight to Waterford Marine Search and Rescue, an organization committed to preventing suicide and saving lives in the community.
This year, we organized a 5K CSR Walk at our Kilkenny HQ to bring employees together and raise funds and awareness for the cause. The walk provided a great opportunity for our team to connect, support each other, and contribute to a meaningful initiative. Throughout the month, we also took the opportunity to highlight CluneTech’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP), ensuring that employees across the globe are aware of the mental health resources available to them.
At the end of September, CluneTech made a monetary donation to Waterford Marine Search and Rescue, supporting their essential efforts in mental health and suicide prevention. A big thank you to all of our colleagues for their participation and dedication during this important month!

In just under an hour, our Bulgarian colleagues proudly collected a total of fifteen bags of trash as part of the ‘Let’s Clean Bulgaria Together’ initiative, which they have now participated in for the second consecutive year.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our young volunteers—Maya, Tervel, Boris, Gabi, and Miroslav—who, along with their parents and our dedicated colleagues Emiliya Dimitrova, Vesselin Markov, Miglena Kostova, Elka Krashevska, Aleksandrina Konstantinova, Ina Eneva, and Daniela Roussev, and their friends, spent their Saturday morning cleaning the area around our Bacho Kiro office in Varna, Bulgaria.
The 12th edition of ‘Let’s Clean Bulgaria Together’ took place on September 14th throughout Bulgaria, in support of World Cleanup Day 2024, which will be observed on September 20th. As Bulgaria’s largest volunteer initiative, it aims to shift attitudes toward pollution, foster a sense of personal responsibility, and contribute to environmental conservation while making a visible difference.
On September 14th, thousands of volunteers, including students from hundreds of schools and kindergartens as well as NGOs, equipped with bags, gloves, and rubber boots, came together to clean polluted areas and water bodies across the country.
Since the launch of ‘Let’s Clean Bulgaria Together’, nearly 3,102,000 volunteers have collected approximately 100,000 tons of waste, clearing 28,800 illegal dumpsites and polluted areas. According to the global organization Let’s Do It World, every 10 tons of waste cleaned by volunteers saves €22 million and three years of institutional labour. World Cleanup Day is recognized by the European Parliament and is included in the UN calendar.

As part of CluneTech Cares, we were delighted to donate laptops to St. Aidan's National School in Kilkenny! These laptops will help students and staff integrate ICT into the curriculum, enhancing digital learning while also reducing e-waste by giving older electronics a second life.
Principal Robbie Byrne shared:
"St. Aidan's NS is delighted to accept the very kind donation of laptops from CluneTech / TransferMate. The laptops will be very useful in our classrooms and support rooms as we integrate ICT across the curriculum. It's also great to see laptops recycled in this way which will benefit many of our students."
At CluneTech Cares, we’re proud to support our local community while fostering a more sustainable future! Many thanks to James Murphy for driving this initiative forward.

We are honored that for a second year in a row, CluneTech is donating to the I Want a Baby Foundation in Bulgaria, supporting the facilitation of psychological support groups for women and couples with infertility. Over the past year, our initial donation helped nine women experiencing infertility receive much-needed support, and three of them have since become mothers.

CluneTech Cares is proud to sponsor the Kilkenny Stars BIDL Women’s Team, who had an impressive season debut on Saturday evening. The team kicked off their journey in senior basketball with enthusiasm and determination, backed by a lively crowd that brought vibrant energy to the game.
Despite facing challenges in the first half, the team demonstrated resilience and teamwork, pushing through to secure a decisive victory against their neighbours, the Tipperary Knights. This promising start has set the stage for an exciting season ahead, and we look forward to supporting the Kilkenny Stars as they continue to shine on and off the court!

As part of a CluneTech Cares initiative, young residents from the Gavroche Association’s supervised residence and the Caritas sheltered housing recently visited the Varna District Court. The visit was organized with support from our dedicated colleagues Daniela Tsoneva and Emiliya Dimitrova, who aim to help social service users and employees in the region gain valuable experience and learn best practices in human rights and support for vulnerable individuals.
During the visit, the group had the opportunity to engage with Deputy Chairperson and Judge Ralitsa Raykova, Veselina Todorova, Coordinator of the Mediation Center, and Stella Yankova, Head of the Court’s Press Center. The court representatives shared insights on civil and criminal cases and offered real-life examples from their experiences working with citizens.
The youths also explored topics like judicial mediation as an alternative way to resolve disputes, the role of the National Legal Aid Bureau, and the responsibilities of the duty judge—a key figure in granting permissions related to finances and real estate for individuals under guardianship.
This initiative is part of CluneTech’s ongoing commitment to fostering community engagement and supporting educational opportunities that empower young people in the region.

CluneTech is absolutely delighted to sponsor local young racer Adam Butler. We recently welcomed Adam to our Kilkenny HQ following his participation in the #T4NationsCup2024. Thanks to Adam and his team, we had the opportunity to see one of his racing karts in person, further highlighting our commitment to supporting young talent in the community. We look forward to following Adam's journey on the racetrack!

Introduced in 2021, our CSR Volunteer Day empowers each employee to give back to the charities and causes closest to them. Since the inception of Volunteer Day, 160+ CluneTech employees have contributed to causes which they find meaningful, and this number keeps growing. See what they had to share with us about their experience this quarter:
Our amazing colleagues Antonia Petrova and Silviya Krasteva volunteered at the latest edition of the ‘I believe and help’ campaign.
Antonia and Silvia brought 18 kg of plastic caps that the employees in our Varna office collected and spent the day supporting the cause at the Cathedral in the heart of the city.
‘I believe and help’ is a well-known Bulgarian initiative which is run biannually - once in the spring, and once in the autumn. It promotes plastic caps collection and recycling as a way to gather funds for buying vital medical equipment for children’s hospitals while also supporting the planet and recycling tons of plastic each year. Well done to Antonia and Silviya for their amazing work!

Team Victory for CluneTech at the Mount Juliet Corporate Invitational
Last Thursday, CluneTech was proud to be represented at the annual Mount Juliet Corporate Invitational, where our team not only enjoyed spectacular weather but also played an exceptional round of golf.
Competing with determination and skill, the team of Padraig Lahart, Jack O'Keeffe, Patrick Dalton, and David Dooley showcased their talent on the course, ultimately taking home the first-place prize!

In Q1, CluneTech and Cois Nore announced a sponsorship supporting the development of a dedicated therapy wing at Cois Nore’s new Cancer Support Centre in Kilkenny, marking a significant milestone and an important investment in the future of cancer support services for the people of Kilkenny
CluneTech’s sponsorship provides vital funding for a modern, purpose-designed therapy space that will support individuals and families throughout their cancer journey.
Alongside community generosity, government support, and contributions from other supporters, this investment is helping to bring the new centre closer to completion and enables Cois Nore to continue delivering free, confidential support and professional and voluntary services to people of all ages.
Terry Clune, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of CluneTech, said:
“Kilkenny is home for many of us at CluneTech, and we recognise the importance of standing with our community during difficult times. Cancer touches so many families, and Cois Nore has been a steadfast and compassionate support to the people of Kilkenny for over a decade. We are proud to support the development of the new Cois Nore therapy wing and the vital work that will continue there. We are in it together with Cois Nore and with the people of Kilkenny.”

CluneTech was proud to celebrate the achievements of Kilkenny’s emerging young talent as it hosted the Kilkenny GAA and Camogie Academy Awards at its Kilkenny HQ on January 27th and 28th. Held over two evenings, the awards recognised the dedication and commitment of the U16 Kilkenny GAA hurling and football squads, alongside the U15 Kilkenny Camogie Academy and Development squads.
CluneTech has been the main sponsor of both the Kilkenny GAA Academy (Na Cait Óga) and the Kilkenny Camogie Academy since 2024, under a three-year partnership supporting more than 500 players across both pathways. The sponsorship helps fund essential operational and player-welfare costs, including transport, equipment, nutrition and medical supports, ensuring a high-performance environment can be sustained for young athletes across the county.

Based in North Kilkenny, Galmoy Juvenile Badminton Club has grown to a membership of 50 young players aged between 7 and 17, providing regular training opportunities and fostering a strong community spirit among young athletes from across the region.
Since affiliating with Badminton Ireland in 2023, the club has already enjoyed success at both school and county level, with several members selected for the U17 Kilkenny team competing in upcoming Leinster competitions.
This sponsorship forms part of CluneTech’s award-winning CSR programme, CluneTech Cares, which supports charities and community initiatives locally and internationally, with a strong impact across Kilkenny and the wider communities in which the company operates.
The new sponsorship will support the club as players represent Galmoy Juvenile Badminton Club in competitions throughout the season and we are absolutely delighted to support such an amazing organisation in our community.

Karin Dom Martenitsi Workshop
30 volunteers from the Varna office spent a day crafting martenitsi, which later were sold at fundraising bazaars across Bulgaria, to raise funds for Karin Dom's therapeutic center and children's early development support programs. They raised over €200 for Karin Dom!

John Murphy volunteering for Daffodil Day 2026
"Today, once again I used my CSR day to support the Irish Cancer Society on Daffodil Day. I think we all know someone in our life who has been affected by Cancer and who have reached out to the Irish Cancer Society for guidance or support. Grateful to be able to give back in a small way with thanks to CluneTech Cares."
John Murphy, Fintua

Bringing together more than 50 colleagues from across the organisation, the initiative reflects Benamic’s ongoing commitment to strengthening collaboration, enhancing customer experience, and embedding a unified, customer-first mindset across all teams.
The training, delivered by Pavel Panov, PhD, from In Your Hands, centred around a dynamic business simulation designed to mirror real-world organisational challenges. Through highly interactive sessions, participants explored how decision-making, communication, and internal alignment directly influence the customer journey.
Teams from Web Development, Customer Service, Client Success, Sales, and Project Management took part across the two days, with the programme also welcoming international colleagues, including participants from Ireland. This cross-functional and cross-border approach reinforced the importance of shared accountability in delivering consistent value to customers.
.png)
A central theme throughout the training was clear: every team plays a role in shaping the customer experience. Whether client-facing or operating behind the scenes, the way teams collaborate internally has a direct and measurable impact on external outcomes.
Through a series of practical exercises and guided reflections, participants were encouraged to challenge existing ways of working, identify areas for improvement, and adopt a more commercially aware and customer-oriented perspective.
As Julian Morrison, CEO of Benamic, shared:
“This was a focused reset on how we approach sales - not just as a function, but as a culture built on trust, clarity and consistently delivering on our commitments.
What stood out was the level of engagement across the team and a clear, shared intent to become a more customer-oriented business. There’s a strong willingness to challenge how we work today and raise the bar on how we deliver value to our customers.”
The training marked an important step in Benamic’s journey towards building a stronger, more aligned organisation - one where sales is not confined to a single function, but embedded in the mindset and actions of every team.
With strong engagement, practical insights, and a clear focus on application, the initiative sets the foundation for continued progress. The next step is clear: to translate these learnings into everyday practice and further elevate the standard of delivery across the business.

This award belongs to them, to our community and to everyone who has supported WeCan.”

At CluneTech, collaboration and recognition aren’t just buzzwords, they are the foundation of our culture. Nowhere is this more evident than in our OneTeam Awards, a signature recognition program that honours the spirit of unity, innovation, and excellence that drives our success.
Over 12 years ago, CluneTech launched an initiative to spotlight outstanding individual contributions through what was then known as Employee of the Quarter. As our company evolved, so too did our approach to recognition. In 2019, inspired by employee feedback, the program was reimagined and relaunched as the OneTeam Awards.
This transformation reflected more than just a name change — it marked a deeper commitment to recognising the collective effort that fuels our business.
Today, the OneTeam Awards take place twice a year, giving employees across the globe the opportunity to nominate a colleague whose contributions reflect one of our core values: Innovation, OneTeam, Passion, and Respect. These nominations reinforce our ongoing commitment to living these values in our everyday work.
The OneTeam Awards celebrate not only individual achievements but also the teamwork, creativity, camaraderie, and mutual respect that are essential to our culture and continued growth.

From lively in-office celebrations to heartfelt doorstep award deliveries during remote work, the OneTeam Awards have become a meaningful tradition filled with unforgettable moments. These celebrations strengthen the bonds between colleagues, highlighting the impact of each individual’s work, and reinforcing the values that make CluneTech a unique and inspiring place to be.
As our HR Manager in Bulgaria, Ekaterina Hristova, puts it:
“The OneTeam Awards represent more than just recognition, they show our people that what they do truly matters. These awards are a part of our company’s DNA. They celebrate our shared success and remind us that together, we are stronger.”
While the OneTeam Awards are a standout celebration of collaboration and excellence, they’re just one part of CluneTech’s broader commitment to recognising our people. We offer a wide range of recognition initiatives that celebrate contributions both big and small, across all levels of the organisation:
• Milestone Recognition Programme – Honouring the dedication of our long-serving team members.
• Global Employee of the Year Awards – Celebrating individuals whose impact and performance have stood out over the year.
• Workvivo Shout-Outs – Enabling real-time, peer-to-peer recognition for everyday efforts and achievements, both within and across teams.
• Celebrating Personal and Professional Highlights – From birthday cards and new baby gifts to congratulatory hampers for passing exams, we take pride in acknowledging life’s special moments and supporting our employees in all their successes.
At CluneTech, recognition is more than a program — it’s a reflection of who we are. The OneTeam Awards, along with our wider recognition initiatives, demonstrate our commitment to valuing every individual and celebrating the spirit of teamwork that drives our success. As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain dedicated to fostering a culture where people feel seen, appreciated, and inspired — because when we celebrate each other, we thrive together.

Exceptional managers and leaders are key to CluneTech’s reputation as a Great Place to Work. To recognize her outstanding leadership, Albena Pashova, Global VAT Recovery Manager at Taxback International, was invited for an interview with Economy.bg. In the conversation, she shares insights from her 23-year career at Taxback International, a CluneTech company and global leader in VAT recovery.

I will never forget my start at Taxback International 23 years ago. And no, I didn’t start as a manager. I worked my way through every step of the company hierarchy – from VAT Specialist to Team Leader, Manager, and most recently, Global VAT Recovery Manager.
I would say that Taxback International is not just a company; it is a school that fosters exceptional qualities and knowledge, which I have been striving to pass on to my colleagues over the years.
Our team consists of 25 exceptional individuals, and currently, we have a total of 297 years of experience at Taxback International. Yes, that's an average of over 11 years per person. Each one of them specializes in specific tasks related to VAT document preparation, VAT expense analysis, filing specific returns, communication with tax authorities and agents, and appealing decisions. At the same time, thanks to their exceptional experience and knowledge, each of us can assist our colleagues when needed, especially during busy periods. These 25 people file thousands of documents, VAT returns, emails, and letters to the tax authorities every year, recovering millions of euros in VAT for clients around the world.
Sometimes I joke that our team operates like a highly efficient machine or a combat unit.
2024 was the most successful year for our department in terms of the amounts recovered for our clients. An extraordinary achievement was that, for the first time in the company’s history, we recovered 23 million euros in VAT from Saudi Arabia for a single client. This wouldn't have been possible without the knowledge, dedication, and exceptional professional skills of my colleagues.
An example of the team's dedication was during the COVID pandemic, when 99% of Taxback International's employees had to work from home, but our Covid heroes – Iskra, Iveta, Elena, and Petar – stayed to work from our office to ensure the proper functioning of the technical departments in Varna and the timely processing of all incoming original documents.
Now, although Taxback International is an extremely flexible employer when it comes to work location, almost our entire team works in the company's office. We voluntarily returned to the office environment as early as June 2020. For the success of our department, the team spirit, and the exceptionally positive atmosphere among colleagues, direct daily contact is of immense importance.

There are different approaches to team leadership. The one I have personally developed over the years is called 'Lead from the heart.' There is a lot of information available on this topic online.
It is generally believed that emotions have no place in business, but I don’t think that's true.
Respect for colleagues, leading by personal example, setting clear goals, encouraging, motivating, and recognizing achievements – for me, that is the secret to a successful team. The personal example set by a manager is inspiring, and inevitably, the team absorbs not only knowledge but also dedication, passion – that spark is contagious.
In my opinion, the people in my department are motivated by the way the team is led, the recognition of their achievements, the flexible policy regarding working hours and location, and the sense of belonging and shared purpose. Because we are not just a department; after all these years, we are friends and even family – such a sense of belonging takes time and effort to build.

Read MOREOur CSR Programme - CluneTech Cares, is a fantastic representation of what we are - a team of truly caring individuals giving our best to support and add value, not only to our customers, but also to the communities in which we operate. CluneTech Cares is employee-led and has three key pillars: Wellness, Culture & Community, and Sustainability. It has been a busy quarter so make sure to check out some of our latest activities below.
Throughout the month of January, we dedicated our CSR Spotlight to supporting Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Migrant charities and the incredible work they do providing assistance to families and single people from a migrant or refugee background in Ireland and abroad.
Our main beneficiaries of the month were both Doras and Nasc Ireland.
Doras is an independent organisation working to promote and protect the rights of people from a migrant background in Ireland while also providing specialised support to migrant and refugee victims who have experienced human trafficking, domestic abuse and hate crime.
Nasc Ireland works with migrants and refugees to advocate and lead for change within Ireland’s immigration and protection systems, ensuring fairness, access to justice and the protection of human rights to all. Nasc's goal is to realise the rights of all migrants and refugees within Irish society.
Across the globe, our team came together to raise vital funds for both of our beneficiaries. Thanks to the support our staff showed throughout January, CluneTech Cares has made a monetary donation to Doras and Nasc for the crucial work they do day-to-day for all Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Migrants in Ireland.
From all here at CluneTech Cares, we want to thank our team for their incredible support and the difference they have made during the month of January.

February marked the month that CluneTech took a stand against Cancer, dedicating our CSR Spotlight of the Month to World Cancer Day. All donations from fundraising initiatives throughout the month went towards our cancer support charities selected by our teams around the world. These charities and causes included Waterford Hospice in Ireland and Една от 8 in Bulgaria.
Waterford Hospice is a remarkable organization dedicated to providing end-of-life care, particularly to those battling cancer and giving incredible support and peace of mind to their loved ones. The profound impact of their work extends beyond the walls of the hospice, touching lives not only within our wider community, but of our teammates and their families over the last number of months.
By aligning our efforts with Waterford Hospice, we are not only contributing to the crucial mission of offering comfort and solace during life's most challenging moments but also acknowledging the impact it has on the lives of our colleagues.
Our second beneficiary for the month of February was Една от 8 in Bulgaria. Една от 8 | One in 8 was founded by Nana Gladwish in 2013. Nana is a famous TV host in Bulgaria and breast cancer survivor. The organisation works with healthcare professionals, state authorities, patient communities, and other stakeholders to improve the Bulgarian healthcare system for those diagnosed.
The team strives for a better quality of life and outcomes for the patients they care for. Една от 8 | One in 8 is funded by company and community donations to support its existence and activities. Our team’s support during February was more important than ever, contributing to keep their amazing services running in Bulgaria.
Over the course of the month, an incredible 79 members of our team around the world took part in a walk / run / cycle in aid of Waterford Hospice in Ireland and Една от 8 in Bulgaria.
CluneTech Cares donated a total of €790 to our dedicated charities of the month. Well done to all of our amazing colleagues for their participation this month.

Each year, we launch our CSR request form where our staff can suggest the charity and causes they'd like to see us support throughout the year. Following their feedback, we dedicated March’s CSR Spotlight to World Autism Awareness.
The main beneficiaries of the month nominated by our team included ABACAS School Kilbarrack in Dublin, Gowran National School Autistic Unit in Kilkenny, and Autism Today in Bulgaria.
Autism is a neurological difference that many people are born with which affects how they experience the world around them and how they communicate with others. While autism awareness has greatly grown in Ireland and globally in recent years, we are still a long way from having a society which truly understands autism.
During the month of March, not only were we delighted to make a monetary donation to all three charities and causes, but we also had the pleasure of interviewing John McCarthy, Facilities Manager, CluneTech, and his son Adam, who we consider an honorary CluneTech employee.
For those who have had the pleasure of meeting Adam, they will be familiar with his bubbly and outgoing personality which brings so much joy to our HQ. Adam, who’s 27, has both autism and epilepsy, and was delighted to jump on camera and give us a unique insight into his life, his autism diagnosis and some of the many things he enjoys doing.
In Adam’s words, “Love will always come from the heart”. A massive well done to all who took part in last months CSR Spotlight of the Month and a special thank you to John and Adam for a truly inspiring interview in celebration of World Autism Awareness.
You can catch the full interview here today.

At CluneTech, we're passionate about giving back to our communities and we are proud to support a number of fantastic local clubs in Kilkenny where our HQ is located, one of those being the Kilkenny Hockey Club's Ladies' Team.
Paddy Dalton, Business Development Manager at TransferMate has been coaching for the club for over three years:
"I've been working with CluneTech for 10 years now and started as a coach with the hockey club back in 2021. I really enjoy coaching because of the buzz seeing the girls reach and exceed their goals. It gives me great satisfaction to see the group training, playing matches, and sticking to the structured game plan. We're delighted to have had CluneTech on board as sponsors for the last 3 years and it has enabled us to grow our women's section to 3 teams. We can now pride ourselves on being one of the biggest female adult sporting clubs in the county, providing hockey for all levels ages and abilities."
Thanks to the club for giving us the opportunity to get behind them and a huge well done to Paddy Dalton who not only goes above and beyond in his role with CluneTech, but within his local community too.

As part of our CSR Programme, CluneTech Cares, we were delighted to donate laptops to St. John of God Primary School.
Recognising the importance of technology in education, we have repurposed these devices to support the learning needs of students within our community.
This aligns with our dedication to sustainable practices, as we strive to effectively extend the life cycle of our technology resources while also supporting the next generation with the tools they need to thrive in their education.
A massive thank you to Norm Power for arranging this donation and to St. John of God's principal, Conor Gorey, and some of the school's pupils who visited CluneTech HQ to collect the donation.

On the 1st of March, our colleagues in Bulgaria celebrated Baba Marta, a Bulgarian holiday deeply rooted in folklore and culture, symbolising the arrival of spring and the wish for good health.
To mark the holiday, our teams in Varna and Veliko Tarnovo organised annual charity bazaars in support of children with special needs.
Thanks to our employees' contributions, a donation of 780 BGN was made to Karin Dom – a long-term CSR partner of CluneTech and one of Bulgaria’s most modern centres, providing a range of social, health, and educational services for children with special needs.
Additionally, 600 BGN was donated for craft materials for the children at the Day Center for Disabilities ‘Daga’ in Veliko Tarnovo, ensuring that children and young people with disabilities receive rehabilitation and engaging activities that support their development and social integration.

'Fast Heroes 112' is a prevention program with one grand mission - to educate the world about the symptoms of stroke and the need for immediate action.
After the successful launch of the award-winning educational program in Varna last year, in 2024 we will continue our mission to raise awareness of stroke symptoms in another well-known school in Bulgaria’s sea capital – Foreign Language School Alexander S. Pushkin. The second edition of Fast Heroes 112 will take place from February to April involving 150 students from first to fourth grade who will share their knowledge about stroke symptoms and first aid with parents and grandparents.
Last May, 150 first graders from Geo Milev school were officially named Fast Heroes 112 ambassadors as they learned the symptoms of stroke and raised awareness of stroke prevention among their loved ones.

Baba Marta at CluneTech
In preparation for this year’s Baba Marta celebrations, over ten colleagues in our Varna offices joined forces using their CSR volunteer day to hand-craft some martenitsi that were later sold at our in-house and other local charity markets in aid of children with special needs. A great tradition and a great use of their Volunteer Day as our colleagues managed to make 1,690 martenitsi in just one day!

Daffodil Day 2024 with Claire McBride, Financial Services Account Manager at TransferMate
Speaking about her Volunteer Day, Claire said:
"Daffodil Day is a special day where we all unite to remember the loved ones we’ve lost to cancer, to honour the people in our lives who are facing cancer and to acknowledge the bravery of those that have fought and won their battle with cancer. I am very fortunate to work for a company that affords and encourages staff to use their volunteer day to get involved in fundraising activities of all kinds. I am proud to play my part today for the Irish Cancer Society."
Well done to Claire on her involvement in this incredible volunteering activity.

Read MOREAt CluneTech, we have an extensive Milestone Recognition Program that rewards employees that choose to build along and successful career with us. As part of this programme, we love celebrating and sharing the stories of those reaching major milestones with the company.
This month we caught up with Taxback's Antonia Nankova, Operations Team Leader, who has been on our team for the last 15 years.
I like the dynamics in our work - different clients, a variety of cases, the challenging busy season every year and then a calmer summer. Sometimes it seems that we are doing similar tasks, but no day is the same.
My favorite thing is my colleagues and the team we’ve formed - they are a group of good people with good hearts. Each one with their own personality, along with being positive, funny, intelligent and dedicated to their work. I truly respect all of them.
My biggest achievement has been becoming a Team leader. I started working for CluneTech as a student with measured expectations. But no one knows what the future holds. I feel grateful for this opportunity, besides the knowledge I’ve gained, I’ve learnt a lot from my colleagues. Everyday brings something new. The best is yet to come.
The biggest change I’ve witnessed was definitely the remote working during Covid 19 - something that we could hardly imagine before that. I remember wondering what we were going to do and how we things would turn out. But we proved that there is nothing we could not overcome.
The greatest challenge from a work perspective is the months at the beginning of each year when we are in peak season - volumes are huge and we are extremely busy. But, that being said, I’m very lucky to work with great people, all hardworking, flexible and dedicated and motivated to get the work done. With this team, I know we are going to make it and succeed.
I don’t have a favourite task in particular, I like my work and I always give my best to get the job done, no matter what challenges come my way from time to time.
Be hardworking, be diligent, be honest and loyal. Stay focused and keep moving forward, your work will be rewarded. You never know what opportunity could be around the corner.

Thursday, March 7th, 2024. Kilkenny-based software technology group, CluneTech, have been officially recognised as one of Ireland’s Best Workplaces for Women ™ in 2024 for the fifth consecutive year. Now in its sixth year, the Best Workplaces for Women™ recognition is a programme that aims to recognise those top organisations which, rather than provide a great work environment for everyone in general, are creating positive and supportive workplaces for women in particular. This year Great Place To Work are recognising 35 organisations, with 2100 female leaders represented among these organisations.
Boasting a strong female representation at leadership level, women account for 61.5% of CluneTech’s global workforce, which is almost double the industry average of 33% overall female representation in global technology firms, which Deloitte Global predicted would be reached by 2022.
Speaking about the recognition, Terry Clune, CEO and Founder, CluneTech said:
“At CluneTech, our mission is to make business better for our customers and we achieve this through creating innovative, industry-leading technology which, without diversity in our business, would simply not be possible.
It gives me a phenomenal sense of pride that over 61% of our global workforce comprises of extraordinary women, especially within an industry that is typically dominated by men. As an organisation, we do everything we can to ensure that everyone, regardless of their gender, background, race and anything in between, feels supported and empowered to reach their fullest potential. We would like to thank Great Place to Work for this recognition and of course, our incredible people who go above and beyond to ensure our #OneTeam culture is at the heart of everything we do.”
This award takes the global standard Best Workplaces methodology as its basis, and recognises organisations that go above and beyond to ensure that the women in their workforce are treated fairly when it comes to pay, recognition, training and promotion opportunities; where they can take the time off they need to attend to childcare or otherfamily commitments; and where they are encouraged, empowered, and supported to do their best work. Companies were only considered if they were already a Great Place To Work Certified™ organisation.
Commenting on the recognition, Joanna Murphy, CEO, Taxback, Sprintax, said:
“I’m absolutely delighted that CluneTech has once again been recognised as one of Ireland’s Best Workplaces for Women. We have a long way to go to achieve true equality around the world. But I’m proud to say that, at CluneTech, we have cultivated a culture of inclusiveness where an individual’s sex, race or background is of no relevance to what they can achieve within their role.
We are very fortunate to have developed an open, diverse, egalitarian environment in which everyone is encouraged to thrive, and all contributions are welcome. I truly believe that CluneTech is the best place in the world for any woman – or man for that matter– to work.”
Sinead Fitzmaurice, CEO of TransferMate, and the first female CEO of a tech unicorn in Ireland said:
“Our goal is to empower current and future female leaders across the business and provide a framework of inclusive support tools to ensure professional and personal growth are nurtured.

The positive impact of these measures is clearly demonstrated in CluneTech’s most recent Trust Index Survey© results where:

“It’s imperative that organisations are focusing on fostering an inclusive environment that values and supports women at every stage of their journey,”
said Cathal Divilly, CEO at Great Place To Work Ireland.

Thank you to each and every one of our employees all over the world who go and beyond every single day to ensure that CluneTech truly is a great place to work.”
Rachael Quinlan, Head of Employee Experience, CluneTech said:
“As Head of Employee Experience, I have an incredibly unique perspective on the value that CluneTech places on being a truly great place to work. On one hand, I see the willingness of our people to share their feedback on what we’re doing well and what we could be doing better as their employer. And on the other hand, I seethe value our leaders place on this feedback, and we work together to bring about tangible change that puts our people first.
The goal of our #OneTeam culture is to foster collaboration, recognise and reward innovation and encourage entrepreneurship and seeing the full circle, from feedback to implementation, is a fantastic demonstration of it being brought to life. By collaborating with our people, and empowering them to shape our culture, our aim is to deliver a best-in-class employee experience, while simultaneously fuelling growth and innovation right across our suite of global businesses.”
Cathal Divilly, CEO of Great Place to Work® Ireland said:
"I'm delighted to extend a huge congratulations to all the exceptional companies recognised as a Best Workplace in Ireland 2024. These organisations' dedication to fostering an environment where all employees can thrive is inspiring, and this recognition is a testament to their unwavering commitment to maintaining this. They have exceeded expectations in their dedication to their employees and cultivated a great workplace culture where everyone can be themselves and thrive at work.
This achievement is not just a milestone but a reflection of their tireless efforts at crafting workplaces where talent not only flourishes, but also feels valued and empowered. I'd like to congratulate these organisations once again on this outstanding achievement, and may this recognition fuel their continued journey towards excellence and innovation.”
The recognition follows a very successful year for the organisation which saw CluneTech company Immedis, a leading global payroll platform, acquired by UKG for €575M, a deal which went on to win Deal of the Year at the Irish Times Business Awards earlier this month.
CluneTech are renowned for their commitment to their people, having won Overall Excellence in HR at the 2023 HR Leadership & Management Awards for their innovative flexible working strategy which offers a unique suite of benefits including Life Work Days, an additional half day's leave per quarter where employees can get their life jobs done, Summer Flex Hours, an extensive and unique lead offering, and more.
In November 2023, they further strengthened their commitment to supporting their people, announcing improvements across compassionate leave, with notable enhancements featuring paid leave for the loss of an employee’s spouse or child being increased to 4 weeks and the introduction of “Pet Compassionate Leave” where employees can avail of up to 2 days paid leave for the loss of a beloved pet. In addition, paid leave granted for both IVF / Pregnancy Support and Miscarriage / Pregnancy Loss were both increased to 5 days paid leave per year and extended to the partner. According to CluneTech, their aim is to not only celebrate the good times with their people, but also ensure that as an employer, they are supporting their teams during the more difficult times they may face in life.
