CluneTech is celebrating a major milestone - 25 years since opening its first international office in Varna, Bulgaria, marking the beginning of its global journey.
What started as a small team in Varna in 2001 has grown into one of CluneTech’s largest and most important global hubs. Today, the company operates across 20 countries, continuing to expand its international footprint.
To mark the occasion, CluneTech hosted a special celebration in Varna, bringing colleagues together to recognise the local team and honour those who have been part of the journey since the very beginning.
Reflecting on the milestone, CluneTech Founder and CEO Terry Clune said:
“The 26th April marks 25 years since we established our office in Varna, Bulgaria — an incredibly important milestone for CluneTech. That step marked the beginning of our international journey and played a key role in shaping the global business we are today. I want to sincerely thank everyone, past and present, who has been part of that journey. Your contribution has played a key part in building CluneTech and the success we have achieved together as one team.”
Today, CluneTech employs nearly 800 people across Bulgaria, with more than 500 based in Varna. The team plays a critical role across the group, supporting the operations and software development of TransferMate, Fintua, Sprintax and Benamic, alongside key functions including finance, customer support, marketing and administration. The strength of the Bulgarian team is also reflected in its longevity, with more than 54% of employees having been with the company for over five years - well above industry averages.
Just days ahead of the anniversary, CluneTech reached another significant milestone, achieving its highest-ever ranking in Career Show’s Top 100 Best Employers in Bulgaria, placing 12th - up from 46th in 2023. The company was also recognised as “Best Employer in Fintech” for the third consecutive year.
As CluneTech looks to the future, it remains committed to investing in its people, supporting employee wellbeing and development, and continuing to make a positive impact in the communities where it operates.

This latest recognition marks another step forward in CluneTech’s steady progression in recent years, moving from 46th place in 2023, to 26th in 2024, and 14th in 2025, before reaching its current position. The result follows a successful showing at the Career Show Awards in October 2025, where CluneTech received three gold awards, alongside two individual recognitions for Albena Pashova, Global Indirect Tax Recovery Manager and Nikolena Doncheva, Recruitment Specialist from our team.
CluneTech’s position in the Career Show Index is driven by multiple recognitions received over the past three years, including:
• Best Employer in Fintech for three consecutive years
• Best Employee Recognition Strategy
• Best Office Environment for the company’s renovated Lounge & Meeting Space in Bulgaria
These awards reflect a continued investment in employee experience, workplace culture, and creating an environment where people can thrive - both professionally and personally.
The Top 100 Best Employers in Bulgaria ranking is part of Career Show’s annual initiative, which also includes one of the country’s leading employer branding competitions and its largest career expo. The index evaluates companies based on awards received over a three-year period, recognising organisations that demonstrate consistent performance in areas such as talent development, employee engagement, and workplace environment.
This recognition comes as CluneTech marks 25 years since establishing its presence in Bulgaria, representing a quarter-century of continuous growth and innovation. Over that time, the company has become a well-established and trusted employer on the local market.
Founded in 1996 by entrepreneur Terry Clune, CluneTech is a suite of software technology companies, including TransferMate, Sprintax, Fintua, and Benamic. Today, the organisation employs over 800 professionals in Bulgaria and more than 1,200 globally, across finance, technology, marketing, and customer support roles, all contributing to the success of its international operations.

Read MOREAt CluneTech, we have an extensive Milestone Recognition Program that rewards employees who choose to build a long and successful career with us. As part of this program, we love celebrating and sharing the stories of those celebrating major milestones with the company.
This month we caught up with Nadezhda Tsanevska, Team Leader at Taxback International. Nadezhda has been in the company for 10 years.
My favorite thing about CluneTech is the people, nobody works alone. When you are surrounded by such great colleagues, there is nothing that can stop you.
My biggest achievement was learning how to concentrate on multiple tasks at once.
Over the last 10 years, I have seen a significant improvement in our field of work. I remember starting work with no automatic processing at all, everything was manual and required a lot of time for a task to be performed. Now we have so many developments in place which makes our day-to-day perfor-mance much easier.
When I started as a Team Leader, one of the most challenging things was to learn how to communicate with team members. It was very difficult to be responsible for 30 people, to answer to all their needs and requests, and at the same time to meet the company’s expectations.
All projects we face in the Auditing team are challenging and require a lot of attention. There is no way to choose only one. My favorite thing here is the relief and gratification when we have done our best and the task is completed on time with all included requirements for the project.
To a new hire, I would say to always give 100% of you, it is noticed and acknowledged. Dedication always pays off.

Read MOREIt is quite hard to highlight one thing. Probably the most important for me would be work-life balance. I’ve been with the company for a long time, for a very significant and personal part of my life – my son was only 3 years old when I started my employment, and now he’s an 18-year-old young man! Time flies indeed…
I am very grateful to CluneTech over the years as I have had the chance to enjoy both developing my career and managing my family responsibilities. Because of this, I’ve always felt more efficient and motivated throughout my time here.
I am truly happy that I have been given a chance to lead the Visa First Team! It’s been an amazing journey so far - I’ve met brilliant people, I have developed professionally and personally, and I truly enjoy working with such an international team daily.
This year Visa First is celebrating 20 years in business. Our Varna team and I have visited CluneTech’s Dublin office to meet our colleagues and partners and celebrate this amazing milestone together. Among the many highlights, I think this one is the biggest and the brightest one for me since I started my employment at CluneTech.
Probably for everybody in the Group (and in the world!) the biggest change was moving to a remote working model during the challenging COVID times. It was not easy at the beginning, but I am confident to say, that we all have proved that at CluneTech, we are a motivated team that is professional, and delivers the best service to our customers, whether we work from the office or at home.
My biggest challenge was when Niki Rusev offered me the position of Operations Manager of the Visa First team. I didn’t know much about the business or the team, so naturally everything was new for me, but I was up for the challenge and thankful for this decision. I can’t thank my dear colleagues enough who supported me greatly during the learning process. Together we led Visa First through the challenging COVID times and now we are back in business, stronger than ever!
For the past year or more we have been working on developing a high-tech solution for our clients, for example, Visa First’s online platform for our clients to easily order visa products online, track their applications and keep a record of all visas that they process with Visa First.
Additionally, another favourite task of mine has been working on a brand-new CRM for Visa First employees. This tool will allow us to process a much higher volume of applications and automate more than 50% of current operations. This is turn will enable us to focus more on high priority projects rather than spending additional time on administrative tasks. Our web development team is nearly ready with the final version, and we can’t wait to introduce the new product to our clients.
I would definitely advise to acknowledge and appreciate the advantages of working in a company that is a leader in FinTech industry and is also a workplace with unlimited opportunities for career development.
During my lengthy employment at CluneTech, I’ve always received support from my managers and was encouraged to develop new skills and to step out of my comfort zone to challenge myself.
You can be sure that the great work and talent is always recognized and celebrated at CluneTech, but you should never turn down the opportunity to learn something new, when such is presented by the company.
No matter if you want to develop in sales, marketing, the IT sector, or any other area, I am sure we can offer an exciting role for you to begin and develop your career.

Read MOREAt CluneTech, we have an extensive Milestone Recognition Program that rewards employees that choose to build a long and successful career with us. As part of this programme, we love celebrating and sharing the stories of those reaching major milestones with the company.
This month we caught up withs5 years.
The people! Having the opportunity to work with such a knowledgeable, supportive and passionate group of people from all corners of the world is something I never take for granted. We truly are #OneTeam!
There have been so many highlights during my five years here, but my biggest achievement would have to be when we wererecognized as Ireland’s Best Great Place to Work Team at the 2023 Great Place to Work Awards. We take part in Ireland’s Best Workplaces every year, and this year was our 8th consecutive year being recognised. The Great Place to Work Team Award recognises the team that has gone above and beyond and for our team to be chosen out of 100 companies was a feeling I’ll never forget.
Our Great Place to Work Team consists of volunteers from all areas across the group, with members coming from allcorners of the globe. Our Team acts as the voice of CluneTech’s employees, ensuring that their views are brought to management. Our aim is to promote positive change through a happier work environment, both now and in the future. Over the last number of years, both our culture and the way that we work hasevolved immensely and this recognition truly demonstrated the positive impact we have had to date.
Our journey towards a culture of flexibility! Pre-Covid, we were fully office based and had very little flexibility and no remote working capabilities. Ironically, in the months before the Covid-19 pandemic, my team and I had just gotten approval for a remote working pilot which commenced in December 2019. This was very quickly and unexpectedly ramped up due to Covid-19 and I must give recognition to our incredible leadership team who acted without hesitation when moving our global workforce to working from home. One really important point that often gets overlooked is the fact that as a company in the financial services industry, we would have been considered ‘essential services’ and thus, could have continued to work on-site. Instead, our leadership team embraced this opportunity and put our people and their safety first and were one of the first employers here in Ireland to move to remote.
Since then, our leadership team have continued to improve our flexibility offering and CluneTech now continues to offer remote working among a range of unique benefits including Lifework Days (a half day every quarter to get your life work done), Summer Flexi-Time and more. To see how we have gone from a company that offered little to no flexibility to one that has truly embraced a culture of flexibility, with a clear emphasis on the importance of work-life balance, is truly inspiring.
Funnily enough, although I now love working remotely, the greatest challenge I faced in my time here was back in the early days of the pandemic when we first moved to remote. I am a very social person and I found going from seeing all of my colleagues daily, to not seeing anyone in-person at all really difficult. I would definitely say my mental health suffered at the time as I adapted to these changes.
With that being said, it’s important to remember that the whole world was facing so much uncertainty at the time, and global lockdowns meant that I certainly wasn’t alone in suffering from the lack of social interaction. I have definitely found my groove now and love the flexibility of being able to work remotely. Now, instead of spending 2 hours in the car each day, I can go to the gym, call to my nanny on my lunch break, walk my dogs after work while it’s still bright, etc. Having this flexibility means so much to me and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
In my role, no two days are the same and I’m very lucky to have the opportunity to work with a broad range of teams across different departments. One of my favourite projects was implementing Workvivo, our internal communications platform, way back in 2019. At the time, it was a huge change from our previous intranet and while it was a really intense project, seeing the platform go live to our global workforce was incredible. Workvivo has transformed the way we communicate with our people and there are so many fun projects I’ve rolled out through the platform.
Another project that comes to mind was our global end of year event in 2020. It had been such a strange year and we really wanted to end it on a high. Myself and our Head of Design at the time collaborated with Catapult, an event production agency, and transformed our Kilkenny HQ into a full production studio. We coordinated a live broadcast to our 1,500+ employees which featured highlights from the year, interviews with each of our CEOs and our employee all stars. I hosted the event and will never forget the panic when the countdown to go live started! Thankfully, the event was a huge hit, but I think for me, the bit that stands out the most is that it really marked the time when we knew the world had changed forever. Following that event, we really focused on video as a form of communication and the following year was when our flexible offering really started to take shape.
Take every opportunity that comes your way! CluneTech is an incredible place to work, and I truly believe that there are very few companies that afford their people the opportunities that CluneTech does. Terry and the leadership team place a huge emphasis on the importance of career development and when you look at our leadership teams across the group, there are so many examples of people who have progressed through the ranks right here at CluneTech.
The amazing thing is that, as a suite of global companies, there is an abundance of opportunities across each of our businesses, meaning our people have the opportunity to change their role, function or company, but remain in the group! Our unrivaled ability to adapt is at the heart of our success and innovation, and when an employee shows that same level of adaptability, they will go far.

January can be a particularly challenging time, especially for older people and those experiencing loneliness.
During January, CluneTech was proud to support ALONE in Ireland and Caritas in Bulgaria. Two remarkable organisations dedicated to reducing isolation and providing essential support to vulnerable communities.
To help raise both awareness and funds, we organised CSR Walks in Kilkenny and Dublin in support of ALONE, while our teams in Bulgaria took part in walks for Caritas.
A sincere thank you to everyone who participated, shared their 5k walk screenshots, and helped highlight this often-overlooked issue. Your contributions are making a real and lasting impact.

February offered a welcome opportunity for colleagues in the Kilkenny office to come together and mark Pancake Tuesday with a Pancake Bar.
This initiative not only provided an enjoyable occasion for staff to connect, but also supported the Irish Cancer Society, raising both funds and awareness for the essential services they deliver nationwide.

This March, CluneTech proudly dedicated our CSR Spotlight to World Autism Awareness, supporting incredible charities that provide essential services to individuals and families affected by autism.
Autism is a neurological difference that shapes how people experience the world, and while awareness is growing, there’s still much work to be done in building a more understanding and inclusive society.
To raise awareness and funds, we hosted a lunchtime run/walk at our Kilkenny HQ on March 25th. Between employees and the TY students participating in the CSR walk, to people joining our Patric Fitness Class, the turnout was amazing in both our Kilkenny and Dublin HQ's! 👏
Thanks to our participation, we have made a monetary donation to our dedicated autism awareness charity going towards an amazing cause.
On the 13th of March, 18 employees in Varna donated blood! In 2024, in Bulgaria, blood donation was recognized as a voluntary activity for which the company allows employees to use their company-paid volunteer day. This made organising our blood donation campaign only a matter of time and we couldn’t be prouder of the impact we’ve made together.

CluneTech is proud to announce the continued success and growth of the award-winning educational initiative FAST Heroes 112, which has now expanded city-wide in Varna, Bulgaria. Endorsed by the World Stroke Organization and supported by CluneTech since 2022, the program currently reaches 26 kindergartens and more than 2,100 children, delivering life-saving health education to families across the region.
What began as a pilot in just one school has grown into a vital community initiative, turning health education into a celebration and raising essential stroke awareness among nearly 13,000 people in the Varna municipality.
In partnership with the Varna Municipality and the Heart to Heart Foundation Bulgaria, we remain committed to expanding the program’s impact even further.
FAST Heroes 112 is an award-winning educational program, endorsed by the World Stroke Organization. It aims to raise awareness of stroke symptoms and emphasizes the importance of immediate action when these signs appear. The program harnesses children’s natural enthusiasm for learning and sharing to spread life-saving knowledge not only in kindergartens and primary schools but also within families at home.
Children aged 6 to 11 learn how to identify stroke symptoms through engaging, adventure-based lessons, and then share that knowledge with their families. On average, each child passes this information on to six adults, amplifying the program’s impact beyond the classroom walls.

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in Bulgaria and worldwide, and tragically, one of the main reasons children lose their grandparents. Many stroke patients miss out on life-saving treatment because they don’t recognize symptoms early enough and arrive at the hospital too late. However, if stroke victims receive swift and effective acute care, survival rates improve dramatically.
This is why increasing awareness of stroke symptoms and empowering people to seek emergency care immediately is crucial. FAST Heroes 112 contributes to building this awareness, helping families respond quickly when it matters most.
Varna, home to our largest Bulgarian office, is also one of the cities with the highest stroke rates in the country — making this partnership especially meaningful.
This fall, FAST Heroes 112 will continue its vital work by reaching children and families in all primary and elementary schools across Varna. Stay tuned for updates on our ongoing journey to make Varna safer — one child, one family, and one community at a time.

CluneTech Cares is employee-led and has three key pillars: Wellness, Culture & Community, and Sustainability. It has been a busy quarter so make sure to check out some of our latest activities below.
For the month of October, we are traditionally raising funds for Race for the Cure which plays a crucial role in supporting breast cancer organizations and hospitals across Europe.
With a staggering 500,000 new diagnoses and 125,000 lives lost to breast cancer in Europe every year, the funds raised through events like this are of vital importance. They enable these organizations to continue their life-saving work, providing support, research, and awareness to combat this disease.
This October, more than 150 CluneTech colleagues took part in our fundraising events for breast cancer awareness and Race for the Cure across the globe. These events included group walks in Bulgaria and Ireland and a Breast Cancer Awareness talk at our Kilkenny HQ.
In addition, Presiyana Vitanova, Desislava Georgieva, Desislava Chervenkova and Ralitsa Hristova used their Volunteer Day to distribute flyers at the St. Marina Medical Center in Varna, Bulgaria, raising awareness about the importance of breast cancer screenings.
Thanks to our team's efforts, we donated €1,590 to this incredible cause.

This November, we focused our CSR Spotlight on men’s health and the globally recognized Movember movement.
Since its inception in 2003, Movember has grown into a global movement, bringing together passionate Mo Bros and Mo Sisters – individuals dedicated to making a difference in mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. So far, the campaign has raised USD 1.4 billion, funding life-saving research and initiatives for men’s health.
Throughout November, CluneTech employees embraced the cause by growing their own moustaches and staying active for men’s mental health. For each moustache photo posted with the hashtag #Movember, CluneTech Cares generously donated €20. We also stuck to our monthly 5k challenge by donating €5 for every employee who posted a picture of their 5k into our internal communications platform.
At the close of Movember, CluneTech made a significant monetary contribution to Movember, supporting various men's health charities and organizations. A big thank you to all of our amazing colleagues for their dedication and participation.

This quarter, CluneTech had the privilege of hosting the 2024 Kilkenny GAA and Camogie Academy Awards at our Kilkenny HQ. Over two unforgettable evenings, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of the U16 Kilkenny GAA Football and Hurling Teams, as well as the U15 Kilkenny Camogie Academy and Development Squads.
The event brought together players, families, coaches, and mentors, highlighting the dedication and passion that drive Kilkenny’s young athletes. We were honored to welcome special guest speakers Henry Shefflin, Miriam Walsh, and Richie Donnelly, who inspired attendees with their words of wisdom and shared their own journeys in sport.
CluneTech is proud to support Kilkenny GAA and Kilkenny Camogie, empowering the next generation of athletes and fostering a sense of teamwork and community. These awards nights were a true reflection of the hard work and commitment of everyone involved, and we’re delighted to have played a role in celebrating their success.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the coaches, mentors, and leaders, including Michael Fennelly, Performance Lead at Kilkenny GAA, and Tommy Farrell, Kilkenny Camogie Development Officer, for their vital contributions.

This December, our CSR Spotlight of the month shines on St. Vincent de Paul, a remarkable organization providing vital support to those experiencing poverty and homelessness—especially during the holidays.
SVP provides vital services such as housing assistance, food support, and education resources, making a meaningful difference in communities across Ireland—especially during the holiday season.
To help make a difference, we’re hosting a Christmas Jumper Day at our Kilkenny HQ on Wednesday, December 18th. For every festive jumper worn to the office, CluneTech will donate €5 to St. Vincent de Paul.
The jumper doesn’t need to be flashy—what truly matters is the kindness and generosity behind this initiative. Together, let’s help bring a little more joy and warmth to those in need this holiday season.

This December, in response to a request from a teacher, CluneTech made a generous financial donation to the Center for Special Educational Support in Varna. The donation will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for nearly 200 students who rely on the center’s services to navigate their educational journey, as they were born with special needs.
Since its transformation in August 2017, the former Special Education School "Brothers Miladinovi" in Varna has become a Center for Special Educational Support, meeting modern standards for educating children with developmental disabilities. The center currently employs over 30 teachers and 10 therapists, who provide education and care to 176 children aged 6 to 18.
The center is equipped with nine classrooms and a dedicated ergonomic therapy space. The classrooms are designed to cater to the sensory integration needs of the children, with environments tailored to each age group. In preschool and primary school classrooms, a multisensory approach alternates between learning and physical activities, all designed to engage students through practical experience. For non-verbal children on the autism spectrum and those with limited mobility due to cerebral palsy, the center uses advanced tools like the Communicator5 eye-control device for communication and Tobii games for eye training and fun.
In addition to education, the center provides consulting, diagnostic, corrective-educational, and therapeutic services aimed at addressing and compensating for the students’ individual needs.
At CluneTech, our commitment to giving back is at the heart of everything we do. At the end of 2024, our US teams were honored to make annual donations to three exceptional organizations that tirelessly serve our communities: One to World, Coalition for the Homeless, and the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Center.
One to World enriches the global community by fostering intercultural understanding and cooperation. Through education programs and cultural exchange initiatives, they connect international students and scholars with local communities, building bridges of understanding and collaboration. We are proud to support their mission to make the world a more inclusive and connected place.
One To World provides face-to-face experiences among local communities, international students, and Fulbright scholars. Our programs foster curiosity, respect, inclusion, and community for a better world. None of this work would be possible without donors like you. We couldn’t be more grateful for your generosity and your commitment to our mission.
Deepesh Dhingra, Executive Director of One to World.
The Coalition for the Homeless has been a beacon of hope for those experiencing homelessness in New York City. Offering food, shelter, and support services, they work tirelessly to help individuals and families regain stability and rebuild their lives. We are deeply inspired by their dedication and honored to contribute to their life-changing efforts.
Because of your invaluable support, the Coalition has been able to expand our services and advocacy to meet the growing need. We are committed to seeing no one go hungry, homeless, or without shelter in our city. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and compassion – you are truly making a difference.
Dave Giffen, Executive Director of Coalition for the Homeless.
Located in New York, the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Centre is a lifeline for Irish immigrants and the broader community, offering mental health support, senior care, and cultural programs. Our donation to the Aisling Irish Community Centre will specifically support their mental health programs, which provide critical resources and support to those in need. Their commitment to fostering connection and well-being for all who walk through their doors is truly inspiring, and we are grateful to support their vital mission.
We provide support, programs and services to approximately 15,000 people during the year. We promote wellness, infuse culture, and offer empathy with every interaction as our mission is to care for the “whole person”. With 352 private social service sessions delivered so far this year we have worked with youth, families, and seniors to provide a range of supports, meeting their individual needs. We support the Irish because we have made a commitment to our funders to do so. We do everything else, because we are Irish. Thank you for putting a spotlight on the need for food security, and the growing need for mental health support – and for helping us to do our part in providing that support.
Sandra Feeney-Charles, Executive Director of the Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Center.
We extend our sincerest thanks to these organizations for their tireless work to uplift and support those in need. Your efforts make a profound difference in the lives of so many, and we are proud to stand with you. Together, we can continue to build stronger, more inclusive communities and create a brighter future for all.

Our Taxback International team showed true courage by diving into the cold River Barrow—not once, but 12 times each — as part of the '12 Dips in December' challenge.
A huge thank you to our daring participants: Cora Phelan, Therese Hegarty, Éanna Brady, Nigel O'Donovan, Nicola Delaney, Joe Forristal, Eoin Dunphy, Brian Cooney, and Clare Farrell. All of which took the plunge to support three incredible causes, the Irish Heart Foundation, Pieta and Breast Cancer Ireland
We are so grateful for the generous donations and words of encouragement from everyone who supported our team. Your contributions will go a long way in helping these essential organizations continue their lifechanging work.
We’re beyond proud of our team for their dedication. By the end of their 12 Dips of December Challenge, our team raised over 3,000 euros in total. A massive well done to all involved.

Introduced in 2021, our CSR Volunteer Day empowers each employee to give back to the charities and causes closest to them. Since the inception of Volunteer Day, 210+ CluneTech employees have contributed to causes which they find meaningful, and this number keeps growing. See what they had to share with us about their experience this quarter:
Anita Ilieva and Denis Ibrqmov: A day of giving back in their local dog shelter
This November, Denis Ibrqmov and Anita Ilieva from the TransferMate Treasury Team spent a meaningful day at a local dog shelter in their hometown Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. Here's what they had to share about their experience:
“As animal lovers, this cause is something we truly hold close to our hearts, and we felt incredibly fortunate to be able to give back in a small but impactful way.
Our visit was filled with laughter, love, and a lot of wagging tails! We spent time playing with the adorable puppies, whose energy and joy were absolutely contagious. It was a heartwarming experience, and we couldn’t help but feel a deep connection with these wonderful animals who are waiting for their forever homes.
In addition to spending time with the dogs, we also rolled up our sleeves to help clean the cages, making sure the puppies and older dogs had a clean, safe space to rest. We also donated much-needed food to the shelter, knowing how essential it is to provide them with the best care possible.
This experience reminded us just how important it is to support causes that help those who can’t speak for themselves. It’s not just about giving material things, but also about showing kindness, compassion, and love to creatures who give us so much joy in return.
We encourage everyone to get involved in their communities and support causes that matter. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness, every little bit helps."

Linda Mooney Supporting Young Athletes: A Day at the Primary School Cross Country
As part of our commitment to volunteering, Linda Mooney took a break from her customer service role to spend a day with primary school students participating in a cross-country event. This voluntary day provided her the opportunity to support young athletes and encourage their involvement in competitive running.
“I had the chance to take some time out from dealing with clients in Customer Service to spend the day with students aged 8/9 to 12 years thanks to CluneTech cares and our voluntary day. A lovely fresh Irish morning (ideal running conditions) had me walking 35 students from the school to the back field of beautiful Kilkenny Castle. We arrange them by age to get to the start line as they run them by age/class and whether boys or girls (over 800 participants so it crazy trying to not miss their start time). All the kids had great fun and we had 2nd place for 5th class girls and they got bronze for team event, 6th class boys missed out on bronze for the team but had 5th place individual. After it’s all over and few tired kids, we walk them back to the school. It’s great chance for students that are not part of Athletic club to have a chance to run and get a feel for competitive running and cross country. I had 2 of my own running in the 4th class girls and 6th class boys so was lovely to be their to cheer them on.”

Our CSR Spotlight of the Month initiative shines a light on a specific charity or cause for our teams to support. During this time, employees from around the world can join in a remote or in-person 5k walk, run, swim, or cycle.
This July, we focused our efforts on supporting The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation and Karin Dom, two organizations dedicated to improving children's health and well-being.
The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation provides vital in-home nursing and end-of-life care for children with severe and life-limiting conditions throughout Ireland. The foundation offers families much-needed respite and support, ensuring that children receive compassionate care in the comfort of their homes.
Karin Dom is a Bulgarian non-profit organization founded in 1996 by Ivan Stancioff. It serves as a therapeutic center for children with special needs, employing a team of skilled professionals, including physiotherapists, speech therapists, and social workers. Despite their impactful work, Karin Dom faces ongoing challenges due to increasing costs.
Thanks to our team’s involvement throughout July, CluneTech donated over €350 on behalf of our staff to these dedicated charities, supporting their essential services for children and families in Ireland and Bulgaria.

In celebration of International Dog Day, our August CSR Spotlight focused on supporting animal welfare organizations. Donations raised went towards the life-saving efforts of charities and groups working to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need.
Our primary beneficiary during August was PAWS, an organization dedicated to rescuing abandoned and homeless animals, mainly dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. PAWS collaborates with volunteers, local vets, and adoption groups to rescue hundreds of animals each year, provide them with temporary care, and find them loving forever homes.
A highlight of the month was the Lucky Hunt Project Charity Bazaar, which was organized in support of Lucky Hunt. Founded 13 years ago by Svetlana Hunt, Lucky Hunt operates two facilities: a rehabilitation farm for rescued animals and an open-concept shelter for stray dogs, where the animals are not kept in cages. Over the years, the Lucky Hunt Project has rescued and rehabilitated thousands of homeless animals, providing them with a safe environment and a chance at finding forever homes.
The charity bazaar was a tremendous success, with contributions making a significant impact on the shelter’s ability to provide vital resources to animals in need. Employees had the opportunity to learn more about Lucky Hunt’s mission, support the cause, and contribute directly to helping these animals.
Thanks to our team’s active participation, CluneTech made a monetary donation to support animal welfare initiatives, making a meaningful difference for organizations like Lucky Hunt and other beneficiaries. Thank you to everyone who took part and showed their support!

In September, CluneTech Cares honored World Suicide Awareness Month by dedicating our CSR Spotlight to Waterford Marine Search and Rescue, an organization committed to preventing suicide and saving lives in the community.
This year, we organized a 5K CSR Walk at our Kilkenny HQ to bring employees together and raise funds and awareness for the cause. The walk provided a great opportunity for our team to connect, support each other, and contribute to a meaningful initiative. Throughout the month, we also took the opportunity to highlight CluneTech’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP), ensuring that employees across the globe are aware of the mental health resources available to them.
At the end of September, CluneTech made a monetary donation to Waterford Marine Search and Rescue, supporting their essential efforts in mental health and suicide prevention. A big thank you to all of our colleagues for their participation and dedication during this important month!

In just under an hour, our Bulgarian colleagues proudly collected a total of fifteen bags of trash as part of the ‘Let’s Clean Bulgaria Together’ initiative, which they have now participated in for the second consecutive year.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our young volunteers—Maya, Tervel, Boris, Gabi, and Miroslav—who, along with their parents and our dedicated colleagues Emiliya Dimitrova, Vesselin Markov, Miglena Kostova, Elka Krashevska, Aleksandrina Konstantinova, Ina Eneva, and Daniela Roussev, and their friends, spent their Saturday morning cleaning the area around our Bacho Kiro office in Varna, Bulgaria.
The 12th edition of ‘Let’s Clean Bulgaria Together’ took place on September 14th throughout Bulgaria, in support of World Cleanup Day 2024, which will be observed on September 20th. As Bulgaria’s largest volunteer initiative, it aims to shift attitudes toward pollution, foster a sense of personal responsibility, and contribute to environmental conservation while making a visible difference.
On September 14th, thousands of volunteers, including students from hundreds of schools and kindergartens as well as NGOs, equipped with bags, gloves, and rubber boots, came together to clean polluted areas and water bodies across the country.
Since the launch of ‘Let’s Clean Bulgaria Together’, nearly 3,102,000 volunteers have collected approximately 100,000 tons of waste, clearing 28,800 illegal dumpsites and polluted areas. According to the global organization Let’s Do It World, every 10 tons of waste cleaned by volunteers saves €22 million and three years of institutional labour. World Cleanup Day is recognized by the European Parliament and is included in the UN calendar.

As part of CluneTech Cares, we were delighted to donate laptops to St. Aidan's National School in Kilkenny! These laptops will help students and staff integrate ICT into the curriculum, enhancing digital learning while also reducing e-waste by giving older electronics a second life.
Principal Robbie Byrne shared:
"St. Aidan's NS is delighted to accept the very kind donation of laptops from CluneTech / TransferMate. The laptops will be very useful in our classrooms and support rooms as we integrate ICT across the curriculum. It's also great to see laptops recycled in this way which will benefit many of our students."
At CluneTech Cares, we’re proud to support our local community while fostering a more sustainable future! Many thanks to James Murphy for driving this initiative forward.

We are honored that for a second year in a row, CluneTech is donating to the I Want a Baby Foundation in Bulgaria, supporting the facilitation of psychological support groups for women and couples with infertility. Over the past year, our initial donation helped nine women experiencing infertility receive much-needed support, and three of them have since become mothers.

CluneTech Cares is proud to sponsor the Kilkenny Stars BIDL Women’s Team, who had an impressive season debut on Saturday evening. The team kicked off their journey in senior basketball with enthusiasm and determination, backed by a lively crowd that brought vibrant energy to the game.
Despite facing challenges in the first half, the team demonstrated resilience and teamwork, pushing through to secure a decisive victory against their neighbours, the Tipperary Knights. This promising start has set the stage for an exciting season ahead, and we look forward to supporting the Kilkenny Stars as they continue to shine on and off the court!

As part of a CluneTech Cares initiative, young residents from the Gavroche Association’s supervised residence and the Caritas sheltered housing recently visited the Varna District Court. The visit was organized with support from our dedicated colleagues Daniela Tsoneva and Emiliya Dimitrova, who aim to help social service users and employees in the region gain valuable experience and learn best practices in human rights and support for vulnerable individuals.
During the visit, the group had the opportunity to engage with Deputy Chairperson and Judge Ralitsa Raykova, Veselina Todorova, Coordinator of the Mediation Center, and Stella Yankova, Head of the Court’s Press Center. The court representatives shared insights on civil and criminal cases and offered real-life examples from their experiences working with citizens.
The youths also explored topics like judicial mediation as an alternative way to resolve disputes, the role of the National Legal Aid Bureau, and the responsibilities of the duty judge—a key figure in granting permissions related to finances and real estate for individuals under guardianship.
This initiative is part of CluneTech’s ongoing commitment to fostering community engagement and supporting educational opportunities that empower young people in the region.

CluneTech is absolutely delighted to sponsor local young racer Adam Butler. We recently welcomed Adam to our Kilkenny HQ following his participation in the #T4NationsCup2024. Thanks to Adam and his team, we had the opportunity to see one of his racing karts in person, further highlighting our commitment to supporting young talent in the community. We look forward to following Adam's journey on the racetrack!

Introduced in 2021, our CSR Volunteer Day empowers each employee to give back to the charities and causes closest to them. Since the inception of Volunteer Day, 160+ CluneTech employees have contributed to causes which they find meaningful, and this number keeps growing. See what they had to share with us about their experience this quarter:
Our amazing colleagues Antonia Petrova and Silviya Krasteva volunteered at the latest edition of the ‘I believe and help’ campaign.
Antonia and Silvia brought 18 kg of plastic caps that the employees in our Varna office collected and spent the day supporting the cause at the Cathedral in the heart of the city.
‘I believe and help’ is a well-known Bulgarian initiative which is run biannually - once in the spring, and once in the autumn. It promotes plastic caps collection and recycling as a way to gather funds for buying vital medical equipment for children’s hospitals while also supporting the planet and recycling tons of plastic each year. Well done to Antonia and Silviya for their amazing work!

Team Victory for CluneTech at the Mount Juliet Corporate Invitational
Last Thursday, CluneTech was proud to be represented at the annual Mount Juliet Corporate Invitational, where our team not only enjoyed spectacular weather but also played an exceptional round of golf.
Competing with determination and skill, the team of Padraig Lahart, Jack O'Keeffe, Patrick Dalton, and David Dooley showcased their talent on the course, ultimately taking home the first-place prize!

In Q1, CluneTech and Cois Nore announced a sponsorship supporting the development of a dedicated therapy wing at Cois Nore’s new Cancer Support Centre in Kilkenny, marking a significant milestone and an important investment in the future of cancer support services for the people of Kilkenny
CluneTech’s sponsorship provides vital funding for a modern, purpose-designed therapy space that will support individuals and families throughout their cancer journey.
Alongside community generosity, government support, and contributions from other supporters, this investment is helping to bring the new centre closer to completion and enables Cois Nore to continue delivering free, confidential support and professional and voluntary services to people of all ages.
Terry Clune, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of CluneTech, said:
“Kilkenny is home for many of us at CluneTech, and we recognise the importance of standing with our community during difficult times. Cancer touches so many families, and Cois Nore has been a steadfast and compassionate support to the people of Kilkenny for over a decade. We are proud to support the development of the new Cois Nore therapy wing and the vital work that will continue there. We are in it together with Cois Nore and with the people of Kilkenny.”

CluneTech was proud to celebrate the achievements of Kilkenny’s emerging young talent as it hosted the Kilkenny GAA and Camogie Academy Awards at its Kilkenny HQ on January 27th and 28th. Held over two evenings, the awards recognised the dedication and commitment of the U16 Kilkenny GAA hurling and football squads, alongside the U15 Kilkenny Camogie Academy and Development squads.
CluneTech has been the main sponsor of both the Kilkenny GAA Academy (Na Cait Óga) and the Kilkenny Camogie Academy since 2024, under a three-year partnership supporting more than 500 players across both pathways. The sponsorship helps fund essential operational and player-welfare costs, including transport, equipment, nutrition and medical supports, ensuring a high-performance environment can be sustained for young athletes across the county.

Based in North Kilkenny, Galmoy Juvenile Badminton Club has grown to a membership of 50 young players aged between 7 and 17, providing regular training opportunities and fostering a strong community spirit among young athletes from across the region.
Since affiliating with Badminton Ireland in 2023, the club has already enjoyed success at both school and county level, with several members selected for the U17 Kilkenny team competing in upcoming Leinster competitions.
This sponsorship forms part of CluneTech’s award-winning CSR programme, CluneTech Cares, which supports charities and community initiatives locally and internationally, with a strong impact across Kilkenny and the wider communities in which the company operates.
The new sponsorship will support the club as players represent Galmoy Juvenile Badminton Club in competitions throughout the season and we are absolutely delighted to support such an amazing organisation in our community.

Karin Dom Martenitsi Workshop
30 volunteers from the Varna office spent a day crafting martenitsi, which later were sold at fundraising bazaars across Bulgaria, to raise funds for Karin Dom's therapeutic center and children's early development support programs. They raised over €200 for Karin Dom!

John Murphy volunteering for Daffodil Day 2026
"Today, once again I used my CSR day to support the Irish Cancer Society on Daffodil Day. I think we all know someone in our life who has been affected by Cancer and who have reached out to the Irish Cancer Society for guidance or support. Grateful to be able to give back in a small way with thanks to CluneTech Cares."
John Murphy, Fintua
Well done, John, from all here at CluneTech.

Bringing together more than 50 colleagues from across the organisation, the initiative reflects Benamic’s ongoing commitment to strengthening collaboration, enhancing customer experience, and embedding a unified, customer-first mindset across all teams.
The training, delivered by Pavel Panov, PhD, from In Your Hands, centred around a dynamic business simulation designed to mirror real-world organisational challenges. Through highly interactive sessions, participants explored how decision-making, communication, and internal alignment directly influence the customer journey.
Teams from Web Development, Customer Service, Client Success, Sales, and Project Management took part across the two days, with the programme also welcoming international colleagues, including participants from Ireland. This cross-functional and cross-border approach reinforced the importance of shared accountability in delivering consistent value to customers.
.png)
A central theme throughout the training was clear: every team plays a role in shaping the customer experience. Whether client-facing or operating behind the scenes, the way teams collaborate internally has a direct and measurable impact on external outcomes.
Through a series of practical exercises and guided reflections, participants were encouraged to challenge existing ways of working, identify areas for improvement, and adopt a more commercially aware and customer-oriented perspective.
As Julian Morrison, CEO of Benamic, shared:
“This was a focused reset on how we approach sales - not just as a function, but as a culture built on trust, clarity and consistently delivering on our commitments.
What stood out was the level of engagement across the team and a clear, shared intent to become a more customer-oriented business. There’s a strong willingness to challenge how we work today and raise the bar on how we deliver value to our customers.”
The training marked an important step in Benamic’s journey towards building a stronger, more aligned organisation - one where sales is not confined to a single function, but embedded in the mindset and actions of every team.
With strong engagement, practical insights, and a clear focus on application, the initiative sets the foundation for continued progress. The next step is clear: to translate these learnings into everyday practice and further elevate the standard of delivery across the business.

At CluneTech, collaboration and recognition aren’t just buzzwords, they are the foundation of our culture. Nowhere is this more evident than in our OneTeam Awards, a signature recognition program that honours the spirit of unity, innovation, and excellence that drives our success.
Over 12 years ago, CluneTech launched an initiative to spotlight outstanding individual contributions through what was then known as Employee of the Quarter. As our company evolved, so too did our approach to recognition. In 2019, inspired by employee feedback, the program was reimagined and relaunched as the OneTeam Awards.
This transformation reflected more than just a name change — it marked a deeper commitment to recognising the collective effort that fuels our business.
Today, the OneTeam Awards take place twice a year, giving employees across the globe the opportunity to nominate a colleague whose contributions reflect one of our core values: Innovation, OneTeam, Passion, and Respect. These nominations reinforce our ongoing commitment to living these values in our everyday work.
The OneTeam Awards celebrate not only individual achievements but also the teamwork, creativity, camaraderie, and mutual respect that are essential to our culture and continued growth.

From lively in-office celebrations to heartfelt doorstep award deliveries during remote work, the OneTeam Awards have become a meaningful tradition filled with unforgettable moments. These celebrations strengthen the bonds between colleagues, highlighting the impact of each individual’s work, and reinforcing the values that make CluneTech a unique and inspiring place to be.
As our HR Manager in Bulgaria, Ekaterina Hristova, puts it:
“The OneTeam Awards represent more than just recognition, they show our people that what they do truly matters. These awards are a part of our company’s DNA. They celebrate our shared success and remind us that together, we are stronger.”
While the OneTeam Awards are a standout celebration of collaboration and excellence, they’re just one part of CluneTech’s broader commitment to recognising our people. We offer a wide range of recognition initiatives that celebrate contributions both big and small, across all levels of the organisation:
• Milestone Recognition Programme – Honouring the dedication of our long-serving team members.
• Global Employee of the Year Awards – Celebrating individuals whose impact and performance have stood out over the year.
• Workvivo Shout-Outs – Enabling real-time, peer-to-peer recognition for everyday efforts and achievements, both within and across teams.
• Celebrating Personal and Professional Highlights – From birthday cards and new baby gifts to congratulatory hampers for passing exams, we take pride in acknowledging life’s special moments and supporting our employees in all their successes.
At CluneTech, recognition is more than a program — it’s a reflection of who we are. The OneTeam Awards, along with our wider recognition initiatives, demonstrate our commitment to valuing every individual and celebrating the spirit of teamwork that drives our success. As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain dedicated to fostering a culture where people feel seen, appreciated, and inspired — because when we celebrate each other, we thrive together.

Exceptional managers and leaders are key to CluneTech’s reputation as a Great Place to Work. To recognize her outstanding leadership, Albena Pashova, Global VAT Recovery Manager at Taxback International, was invited for an interview with Economy.bg. In the conversation, she shares insights from her 23-year career at Taxback International, a CluneTech company and global leader in VAT recovery.

I will never forget my start at Taxback International 23 years ago. And no, I didn’t start as a manager. I worked my way through every step of the company hierarchy – from VAT Specialist to Team Leader, Manager, and most recently, Global VAT Recovery Manager.
I would say that Taxback International is not just a company; it is a school that fosters exceptional qualities and knowledge, which I have been striving to pass on to my colleagues over the years.
Our team consists of 25 exceptional individuals, and currently, we have a total of 297 years of experience at Taxback International. Yes, that's an average of over 11 years per person. Each one of them specializes in specific tasks related to VAT document preparation, VAT expense analysis, filing specific returns, communication with tax authorities and agents, and appealing decisions. At the same time, thanks to their exceptional experience and knowledge, each of us can assist our colleagues when needed, especially during busy periods. These 25 people file thousands of documents, VAT returns, emails, and letters to the tax authorities every year, recovering millions of euros in VAT for clients around the world.
Sometimes I joke that our team operates like a highly efficient machine or a combat unit.
2024 was the most successful year for our department in terms of the amounts recovered for our clients. An extraordinary achievement was that, for the first time in the company’s history, we recovered 23 million euros in VAT from Saudi Arabia for a single client. This wouldn't have been possible without the knowledge, dedication, and exceptional professional skills of my colleagues.
An example of the team's dedication was during the COVID pandemic, when 99% of Taxback International's employees had to work from home, but our Covid heroes – Iskra, Iveta, Elena, and Petar – stayed to work from our office to ensure the proper functioning of the technical departments in Varna and the timely processing of all incoming original documents.
Now, although Taxback International is an extremely flexible employer when it comes to work location, almost our entire team works in the company's office. We voluntarily returned to the office environment as early as June 2020. For the success of our department, the team spirit, and the exceptionally positive atmosphere among colleagues, direct daily contact is of immense importance.

There are different approaches to team leadership. The one I have personally developed over the years is called 'Lead from the heart.' There is a lot of information available on this topic online.
It is generally believed that emotions have no place in business, but I don’t think that's true.
Respect for colleagues, leading by personal example, setting clear goals, encouraging, motivating, and recognizing achievements – for me, that is the secret to a successful team. The personal example set by a manager is inspiring, and inevitably, the team absorbs not only knowledge but also dedication, passion – that spark is contagious.
In my opinion, the people in my department are motivated by the way the team is led, the recognition of their achievements, the flexible policy regarding working hours and location, and the sense of belonging and shared purpose. Because we are not just a department; after all these years, we are friends and even family – such a sense of belonging takes time and effort to build.

Read MOREOur CSR Programme - CluneTech Cares, is a fantastic representation of what we are - a team of truly caring individuals giving our best to support and add value, not only to our customers, but also to the communities in which we operate. CluneTech Cares is employee-led and has three key pillars: Wellness, Culture & Community, and Sustainability. It has been a busy quarter so make sure to check out some of our latest activities below.
Our CSR Spotlight of the Month showcases one dedicated charity / cause for our teams to support and during that month, employees globally can take part in a remote or in-person 5k walk, run, swim or cycle.
This July, we dedicated our CSR spotlight of the month to The Ronald McDonald House Charities and Karin Dom in honour of children's charities and the fantastic work they do around the world.
The Ronald McDonald House provides accommodation and a caring, supportive environment for families whose children are undergoing medical treatment at Children's Health Foundation Crumlin. We recently paid a visit and saw first hand the tremendous work that their team does to support families through the toughest of times in the most loving, homely and peaceful way.
We were also lucky enough to get a sneak peak of the plans for the new Ronald McDonald House which will be built on the campus of the new National Children's Hospital. With 52 bedrooms spread out over four floors, the new house will be a vital home for families from every county and every town in Ireland. We are honoured to be sponsoring a room, and playing a role in supporting such an incredible charity.
Karin Dom is a Bulgarian non-profit organization founded in 1996 by hereditary diplomat and philanthropist Ivan Stancioff. 25 years on, Karin Dom is an organization with a leading role in providing professional services for children with special needs and their families.
Over the years, Karin Dom has developed as a therapeutic center for children with special needs, which employs highly qualified specialists: physiotherapists, rehabilitators, speech therapists, psychologists, special teachers and social workers. Although these advancements make an incredible difference to children's lives, the costs involved makes it harder and harder for Karin Dom to continue their amazing work.
Thanks to our team's support and participation throughout the month, CluneTech donated over 300 euros on behalf of our staff to our dedicated beneficiaries which will go towards the hugely important services both The Ronald McDonald House Charities and Karin Dom provide to the children and families who need them the most, both in Ireland and Bulgaria.

In celebration of International Dog Day, we dedicated August’s CSR Spotlight of the Month in support of Animal Welfare. All donations raised goes towards the incredible work Animal Welfare charities and organisations do rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming the sick, injured and cruelly treated animals across our communities.
Our main beneficiary during the month of August was PAWS, an animal rescue organisation dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill pounds and owners who can no longer care for them.
By working with their employees, volunteers, local Veterinary surgeons and overseas adoption groups, PAWS are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. With approximately 80 dogs in their care at any one time, they rely heavily on the generosity of the public to fund and continue their work.
Not only did our employees get involved in our monthly walk / run in support of animal welfare, but they also took part in a fundraising competition to mark International Dog Day where we had our teams introduce their furry friends to their colleagues and share the things they love most about them to be in with a chance of winning a paws-itively spectacular doggy hamper for their pooches at home. Each entry doubled up as a donation to our animal welfare beneficiaries during the month of August.
Following our team’s participation throughout the month of August, CluneTech donated €500 to our dedicated Animal Welfare charities. Thank you to everyone who got involved and for the support you’ve shown this August.

During the month of September, CluneTech Cares honoured World Suicide Prevention Day by dedicating our CSR Spotlight of the Month to some of the suicide prevention charities within our community in appreciation of the life changing work they do day in and day out, providing counselling and support to individuals, families and organisations who have been affected by suicide or mental un-wellness.
This September, instead of asking our team to walk or run, we wanted to do something a bit different. We asked our people to do something for them! This included anything, from walking their dog, to watching a movie - whatever made them happy! Our team took some time out to appreciate the little things in your life and shared their pictures and videos with us on our internal platform, Workvivo.
For every photo and video with the hashtag #WorldSuicidePrevention uploaded by our staff, CluneTech Cares donated €5 on behalf of every employee who took part.
To make things even better, for every employee that attended our mental health workshop to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, CluneTech included their attendance as an added donation towards our incredible suicide prevention charities in honour of our CSR Spotlight of the Month.
At the end of the month, CluneTech made a monetary donation in support of suicide prevention, benefiting a number of incredible mental health support charities and organisations. Well done to all of our amazing colleagues for their participation this month.

CluneTech were thrilled to announce our sponsorship of Kilkenny United Women's Football Club this August.
Our #OneTeam Culture extends well beyond the workplace and we recognise the integral role that sports clubs play in our local communities, particularly when it comes to bringing people together. That's why, as part of our CSR Programme, CluneTech Cares, we are committed to supporting a number of local clubs through our pillar of 'Culture & Community'.
So far this year, we've supported almost 20 clubs across a range of sports including everything from soccer and GAA to basketball and karate. This is our first time sponsoring Kilkenny United WFC and we couldn't have been prouder to welcome some of the club's members to our Kilkenny HQ recently.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Keith O'Toole, Communications Officer for the club said:
“Kilkenny United Women's FC are delighted to have CluneTech sponsoring our new jerseys for our U9 to U12 teams. This investment in our younger teams is really important to the club and will really help our players. Thank you from all of us at Kilkenny United Women's FC.”
From all at CluneTech, we wish them the very best of luck in the upcoming season!

CluneTech were absolutely delighted to sponsor local Kilkenny swimmer, Robbie English, who represented Ireland in the European Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in Italy last September. Robbie had 8 individual events and 3 relays and achieved his dream of reaching a final. In fact, he reached 3 finals in 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke!
Robbie also obtained 5 personal bests in his 200m and 400m freestyle, 100m and 200m backstroke and his 50m butterfly. The 100m x 4 Men’s Medley Team went on to beat the Italian team in Italy, achieving third place and gaining a podium position.
“CluneTech’s sponsorship for the Irish Down Syndrome Swimming Team supported their participation at the SUDS 2023 European Swimming Championships in Padova thus enabling these swimmers to showcase their swimming excellence and potential.
CluneTech helped make these swimmers’ dreams come true and allowed them to fly the Irish Flag with pride and joy.” - Ann English, Director / Secretary of the Irish Down Syndrome Sporting Organisation CLG.
Based on the times achieved, Robbie, along with a number of his teammates, now already qualify for the World Championships in Antalya Turkey 19- 26 March next year.
From all of us at CluneTech, we’d like to wish Robbie and the Irish Team a massive congratulations on this incredible achievement.

In 2021, CluneTech and Karin Dom launched a project called “Investing in Human Capital to Invest in the Future of Karin Dom” which aims to support the long-term vision of the centre by increasing the focus and investment on the retention and the development of their specialists.
Having witnessed the positive impact of these professional supervisions, we had no hesitations about continuing our support of this programme. In addition, our annual donation towards Karin Dom saw us sponsor the delivery of a therapeutic chair for children with disabilities, a bosu ball that facilitates the therapeutic programs for children with motor difficulties, as well as numerous smaller tools that will be included in the daily therapeutic exercises of the children in the centre.

Following the ongoing support of our team in Bulgaria, we donated 15 kgs of plastic caps for the latest edition of the “I believe and help” initiative in Varna, which took place on 30th September.
“I believe and help” is a well-known Bulgarian initiative that is run biannually – once in the spring, and once in the autumn. It promotes plastic caps collection and recycling as a way to gather funds for buying vital medical equipment for children’s hospitals while also supporting the planet and recycling tons of plastic each year.
Mariana Dimitrova, a member of our Great Place to Work Team pictured below, brought CluneTech’s plastic caps to the collection point during her time volunteering for the ‘I Believe and Help Campaign.'
In addition to the plastic caps collection, the organizers promoted their first penny fundraiser campaign and a local fundraising bazaar.
Thanks to people's contribution, the ‘I believe and help’ organizers managed to buy 22 pieces of equipment for the neonatal units in Varna and the northeast of Bulgaria, along with Varna's first Neonatal Ambulance and Bulgaria's first Mobile Blood Donation vehicle.

This July, on behalf of CluneTech, Kristina Ilieva from our Marketing & Communications Team was honoured to speak to a group of young people about the role of volunteering in their early career development.
Kristina’s presentation was part of Karin Dom and Varna Municipality’s project, which aims to familiarise high school students with volunteering opportunities and socially responsible companies in the city of Varna.
Our participation is part of our long-term commitment towards early career development and our award-winning career counselling program that helps young people acquire and develop specific skills and experience that will help them get the best out of their career exploration, job search and job application processes.
First Donation towards the I Want a Baby Foundation in Bulgaria
This summer, CluneTech has made its first donation towards the I Want a Baby Foundation in Bulgaria.
I Want a Baby sponsors assisted reproduction, fertility treatment and the first of its kind psychological programme which has been thoughtfully crafted to run in tandem with the medical procedures a couple is going through. Our donation will directly assist the facilitation of psychological support groups for those experiencing infertility. The donation comes following an employee’s request and the first in Bulgaria open vote among over ten local causes that have been nominated in our global CSR request form at the beginning of 2023.
To learn more about the positive impact I Want a Baby is having, we caught up with Katya Simeonova, a psychologist from the foundation who gave us an amazing insight into the fantastic work the foundation does for people struggling with fertility issues in Bulgaria.

CluneTech was an official partner of "Да изчистим България за един ден" BTV campaign, one of the biggest volunteering campaigns held in Bulgaria. On 16th of September, CluneTech supported the cause with 40 volunteers. Along with their families and children, our colleagues took part in a clean- up event in Varna, collecting and disposing of 20 bags of litter and detritus left during the tourist summer season from the beach alley.

Introduced in 2021, our CSR Volunteer Day empowers each employee to give back to the charities and causes closest to them. Since the inception of Volunteer Day 58 CluneTech employees have contributed to causes which they find meaningful, and this number keeps growing. See what they had to share with us about their experience this quarter:
Cora Phelan from Taxback International used her Volunteer Day to abseil almost 150ft down Croke Park, Europe’s 3rd largest stadium. Taking part in the #DareToBeBrave challenge, Cora pushed herself to the limit and raised much needed funds for the Children's Health Foundation, who help save the lives of critically ill children. We couldn’t be prouder of Cora and we were delighted to attend on the day to cheer her on and witness her incredible bravery first-hand.

Read MOREAt CluneTech, we have an extensive Milestone Recognition Program that rewards employees that choose to build a long and successful career with us. As part of this programme, we love celebrating and sharing the stories of those reaching major milestones with the company.
This month we caught up with TransferMate's Ciara Walsh, Relationship Manager who has been on our team for the last 15 years.
My favourite thing about TransferMate is the down to earth environment and the comradery we have here. People are always very willing to help one another out.
Being part of the Relationship Management and Retention team. We have a really great working team and it never gets old winning those clients back!
Our technology enhancements along with our global footprint in terms of licensing & regulations are some of the biggest changes I’ve seen and of course, employee growth across the world.
When I started in TransferMate all those years ago, I didn’t come from a financial FX background. Learning all of the products and systems especially with FX was very new to me but luckily, I had a good team to train and support me when I started on my journey here!
Integrating Salesforce into our current systems has definitely been one of my favorite projects so far.
I would have to say don’t be afraid to ask questions (every day is a school day) and if you have some good ideas, don't be afraid voice them!

The network of companies has a combined turnover of €17 billion and €3 billion of exports sales, providing employment for over 53,000 people across Ireland across a range of sectors – from manufacturing and tech to construction and food and beverage. A detailed judging process precedes the recognition, evaluating the entire management team and business strategy. The judges look beyond financial performance at areas such as a company’s environmental, social and governance standards, strategic planning and talent strategy, when awarding Ireland’s top privately owned businesses.
Established in 1996 by entrepreneur Terry Clune, CluneTech is a suite of software technology companies, comprising tech unicorn TransferMate, Taxback, Taxback International, Sprintax, Visa First and Benamic. The group has offices in 21 countries and employs more than 1,200 people globally. Immedis, a leading global payroll platform, was recently acquired by UKG in one of Ireland’s largest technology deals.
Welcoming the award, Terry Clune, CluneTech CEO and founder said:
“We are delighted to have retained our Platinum status at this year’s Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards. This award is a reflection of the dedication and passion of our people, led by a phenomenal leadership team, to deliver the best in technology, services and innovation in support of our customers and partners worldwide. Our companies continue to go from strength to strength and, with the acquisition of Immedis by UKG earlier this year, we’re more excited than ever about the opportunities in the future.”
Brian Murphy, Lead Partner for Ireland’s Best Managed Companies Awards Programme at Deloitte Ireland said:
“This year we’re celebrating 15 years of the BMC programme and the incredible companies that have qualified. Even though this year’s cohort faced into another challenging period, over the past 15 years we’ve seen how indigenous Irish businesses find opportunities in change. Strengthening governance and recognising the value of specialist expert advice on critical areas such as ESG were key discussion points in the coaching sessions. We also saw companies increasingly focused on innovation driving internationalisation. Despite the uncertainties of the past few years, the confidence of Irish businesses is clear as more and more are scaling their market reach internationally”.
Nikki Canavan, Senior Director, Head of Origination & Sustainability, Corporate Banking Ireland, and judging panel member said:
“Over the last number of years the companies in the Best Managed Companies network have shown huge strength in the face of disruption and uncertainty. This year in particular – a year that tested Irish businesses like never before – the judges noted the commitment, bravery, resilience and tenacity of the applicant companies.”

Ronald McDonald House Ireland have been caring for families in Ireland since 2004 and since then, have provided accommodation, care and support for in excess of 4,200+ families from all over Ireland.
We recently paid a visit and saw first-hand the tremendous work that their team does to support families through the toughest of times in the most loving, homely, and peaceful way.
“We call ourselves the invisible family that wraps ourselves around mum, dad, brothers, and sisters. We provide them with a home and the security and safety net they require while facing, quite often, a long period of time when their child is sick in the hospital” said Louise Quail, Corporate Relationship Manager with The Ronald McDonald House Charity. “It’s never going to be their home, and we never want it to the be their home, but it has to be the next best thing.”
CluneTech’s donation will see us sponsor a bedroom in the new Ronald McDonald House which will be built on the campus of the new National Children's Hospital. With 52 bedrooms spread out over four floors, the new house will be a vital home for families from every county and every town in Ireland. We are honoured to be sponsoring a room, and playing a role in supporting such an incredible charity.
“Outside of just providing extra bedrooms, there’s going to be so much more communal spaces allowing us to possibly extend our programmes or offer additional core programmes or services that can really support the wellbeing of the overall family.”
Ronald McDonald House Charities are actively seeking sponsorship and donations towards their new house build. To learn more, please visit https://www.rmhc.ie/about-us/new-house.

About CluneTech Cares
CluneTech’s CSR programme was established in September 2007in response to a tragic flooding disaster in Tsar Kaloyan, Bulgaria. Deeply saddened by the news, our Bulgarian employees decided to help and within 48hours, they had rallied together and organised 3.5 tonnes of food and 12,000litres of water for the village. After this event, we formalised our CSR activity to give it a global reach, ensuring to support each of the communities in which we operate and giving back to our local communities.
The amazing thing about our CSR Programme is that it’s created by our people, for our people. Each year employees are given the opportunity to request which charities we support and the programme’s global reach results in us having appositive impact in each of the communities we operate in.
As part of CluneTech Cares, in 2020 we introduced our Volunteer Day which empowers our people to give back within their local communities during working time, ensuring that even our smaller teams can get behind the charities and causes closest to their hearts.
In 2022, we donated over €75,000 and supported over 55 charities, causes and fundraisers.
